Also I want to mention that with a big-screen view, Prince looked happy and well at these shows. He was energetic and enthusiastic. He was getting older, and I liked seeing that because he was actually HUMAN like the rest of us. And he was still absolutely beautiful. Especially in show 3 with his fringed, sleeveless vest. He did not have any jewelry or sleeves on or jewelry or anything else on his fingers - and he was just gorgeous and bare. His arms and hands were so beautiful...just naked as they were. And his arms and hand movements playing the guitar were so smooth and sexy.
Most gorgeous man/being to ever walk the face of the earth besides Jesus Christ.

Can I just say amen to this....and maybe I'm in the minority but I absolutely love the fact Prince had no tattoos. There's just something about a eeing his beautiful skin not covered up in ink. 🙂

Yes. I've noticed that too and wonder what it's about.

I just finished watching the dvd 'Live Romance 1600' with Sheila E and Prince.
Around 53 min, at the end of 'Love Bizarre' just before the camera starts spinning round.
Prince does exactly the same movement with his hands and the audience copies. Then he gives them an ok 👌🏼.
Guess it's just for fun.

When I saw it it reminded me of your question.
What do you think, is it the same?

I completely agree, Rogifan. No tattoos. He didn't want to ink up his beautiful body that god gave him exactly as it was.

Yes. My whole Prince experience has given me such an appreciation for the beauty of mixed race and African American - and Latina, skin!
Us boring old milky white folks may not always be the most beautiful color after all, but I always knew that somehow 🙂
Not to mention our skin ages faster!
I've read that Prince sometimes wore a lot of makeup, sometimes very thick, when he already had what others also said was absolutely flawless skin.

A question for you experts: My DVD set, I think, is Official pro-shot. Seems it. But the views/shots are from a different angle than the videos of these shows I've seen on YouTube. Why is that? Was there more than one company doing the "Official" filming?

Nice catch, paradise000! Yes, I believe it is biggrin

I had totally forgotten about this. I guess he could have done the same thing on all three concerts.

But it is strange then that the cameras never caught it once, and on top of that is the 'humming' (for lack of a better word) that is accompanied at the same time.

There is a 10 minutes + audience video circulating that has been synced with the soundboard recordings.

Is that the one you mean?

Are you talking about the sampler?
The sampler is one example of a clip that has a different camera shot than the DVDs I have. It seems as though my DVDs were created by a different cameraman. Same with other YouTube clips I see.

For example, if I watch a YouTube version of "Satisfied" from Show 1, the view is of Prince, Shelby, Elisa and Liv straight on.
But on my DVD set, I see them singing those same lyrics from the far right, and I really want to see them all head-on.

Also, these are supposedly the official DVDs of which only 500 copies were made. Should the DVDs themselves look different than a typical DVD, or say something on the DVDs themselves to indicate that these are "the" real deal?

True. But it used to come in spray cans, many years ago. It was like v canned hairspray.

You mfs make me CRAZY lol I believe he was truly emotional at the end of Breakdown - he was wiping tears, not sweat. I've seen him perform too many ballads - there's winky showmanship, & there's heartfelt emotion. This was the latter. Let's not forget he wrote it from a clearly vulnerable place, & when you access those feelings it can hit you hard, even in a room full of people. Dude was feeling that, beautiful performance (falsetto was a little gritty, but I dug it) heart

Also, at Montreux, he changed the lyrics at the end to "darlin" and "girl" so it sounded like a breakUP song rather than breakdown.

Listen carefully.

Was this about the time he and AA were starting to separate?

I think he was genuinely emotional. He was singing to HER, whoever.

Finally received the 3dvd set and I must say: great package and great sound and vision. Almost 3 completely different concerts in perfect quality. Better than downloading this I must say. I prefer nice packaged dvd sets over downloads. Too bad for shelby though. She really spoils the party every time for me. Hannah Ford looks very hot on the drums and seems to really enjoys herself.

Prince's facial makeup was primarily contouring. He was a matter at using at least two shades of foundation. He narrowed his nose, lightened his forehead and cheekbones.
If you look at photos, you will see what looks like a shine down his nose, but that's actually highlighting makeup.
My own formal makeup uses tricks like that, roo ... And color to my pasty-white skin.

I known Prince liked makeup. I've always just been a mascara girl, never seeing a reason to put anything over the natural color of my skin.
I have thought before that I would have loved to show Prince how I apply my mascara. I use a certain type that really enhances eyes like he and I have.

I gotta say Prince is the only guy that I could accept wearing makeup. I was never really a fan when it was too thick or heavy but applied right it looked so good. Better than a lot of women apply makeup.

I can't even really tell there's foundation makeup there unless I'm looking for it. I believe over the years he found what worked for him and did his own makeup. He sure is beautiful.

Prince looked healthier and was a lot more energetic in his 2014 London shows with 3RDEYEGIRL than show 3 at Montreux.

Although, show 3 is solid, something seems to be off to me. I suspected it when I heard the audio only, but the visual element has confirmed it.

--Out of all the shows I have watched over the last 8 months he is not 100% not bad but just can see something is off.

When a show is recorded professionally for possible broadcast, Prince always seems a bit less relaxed than at just a random show. I notice it at these 3 shows too. He seems very conscious of himself and wants the performance to be perfect.

OK so I finally have the full videos and have been watching them. What exactly was the deal with Andre Gouche? Did Prince just bring him in for studio work and non-3EG stuff? He's really good but during night 1 and 2 it seems like someone just handed Ida a guitar to give her something to do. lol She certainly doesn't seem comfortable on the guitar like she is on bass. Another thing with these shows that is top notch is the horn players are actually dancing quite a bit. I know on Funkenberry's podcast Adrian Crutchfield talked about how hard it is to play and incorporate dance moves at the same time. I'm really impressed with the horns. And I love that Prince decided to do Courting Time and allow each horn player to get a solo. He definitely gave them the spotlight which is cool.

Andre Gouche is the bass player during Shows 1 & 2?
Maybe Ida was less experienced than him and mostly used to playing with 3rdEyeG3rl, so Prince put her on a regular guitar? Maybe Andre was more used to playing with a horn section than she?
Good observation about each horn getting a solo during Courtin Time. I didn't notice that really.
I am also super-impressed with this horns and loved their dancing too.
