Here's a video of Andy performing "Yellow Gold" from the same concert live in Paris: https://m.youtube.com/wat...6IVcE8XVYE

Thanks for sharing. That's a good performance, but Andy really shines most brightly in her acoustic performances. Here's a great one.

Love this. Thanks!

People Pleaser

Image result for People Pleaser lyrics by Andy Allo

Yeah
Ima do what it do

First Verse:
So consumed with being nice that I forgot to live my life
Such a people pleaser, now I see I wasted so much time
Yes they like me, but they expect me to be there at a drop of a dimewell I changed my mind

Chorus:
I used to be a people pleaser, but I had a change of mind
I used to be a midnight teaser, now I just wanna take my time

Verse Two:
So obsessed with holding on that I forgot to just let go
Listenin to abusive speech instead of letting feelings show
And Im so tired of dealing with these guys, that all they do is take
From their rations to reactions
You and I both know its fake

Chorus:
I used to be a people pleaser, but I had a change of mind
I used to be a midnight teaser, now I just wanna take my time

Verse Three:
So concerned with giving all I had and more and more times four
And I am not the one who stands outside when they have locked the door
Cause this is mine and every other man who dares to make a stand
Theres a time to raise your voice and a time to raise your hands

Chorus:
I used to be a people pleaser, but I had a change of mind
I used to be a midnight teaser, now I just wanna take my time

People pleaser
Midnight teaser

Bridge:
Jim Crow, Cornrow, Afro, we grow, new show, cash flow, big dough, hell no, bestow, I go, two friend and foe, although, they blow, you know, I go...

Chorus:
I used to be a people pleaser, but I had a change of mind
I used to be a midnight teaser, now I just wanna take my time

People Pleaser is the second track on Andy Allo's second album Superconductor (her first on NPG Records), and People Pleaser was released as a digital single two weeks before the album's release.

A studio version of the track was recorded on 21 November, 2011, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA, with additional recording and horn overdubs by Maceo Parker and Trombone Shorty the following day; it is not known if an earlier studio version (with or without Prince input) was recorded earlier, however.

A 1:09 sample of the track was premiered on Drfunkenberry.com over six months before the album's planned release. More than a year before the album's planned release, it was played by Prince (with lead vocals by Andy Allo) live on 27 June, 2011, Le Grand Journal, Studios Rive Gauche, Paris, France, broadcast live on TV and online (it was first played live at a Prince concert three days earlier, 24 June, 2011, Métropolis, Montreal, QC, Canada).

The song was written by Andy Allo. When asked by the Irish newspaper The Independent if there is any song he wished he had written, Prince replied by saying "People Pleaser", confirming that he did not write it (although he also jokingly responded "Nothing Compares 2 U", which he did write but is famously regarded as a song by Sinéad O'Connor, who covered it).

Andy Allo explained in a interview to Bonedo.de that People Pleaser was initially more a blues number which evolved into a funk number when she played it to Prince, who then added the song to his live repertoire with The NPG.

The song is the earliest-released Prince-related studio track to feature Ida Nielsen, although she had appeared on various live tracks since joining Prince's band in 2010. It is also the earliest-released Prince-related track to feature Trombone Short

I'm thinking the age difference for one. There seemed to be mutual attraction but Andy was so young I doubt she wanted to settle down yet even if Prince had wanted to.She's very independent too.

I think that would have been a very good move for him. They were clearly in love, and she gave him new life and renewed creativity. It seems to me that he was headed in that direction. Perhaps his failing health prevented him from taking that final step.

I disagree. Andy wanted marriage, and I think, had he remained healthy, Prince was headed back to the altar. Then, in 2014, his health crisis reportedly began. I'd bet that changed everything, likely, with no explanation to Andy. But, if you doubt that Andy was ready, just listen to her song "Nothing More," on her critically acclaimed album, "Superconductor," which was, of course, produced by Prince.

Nothing More

I've Never felt a love that runs so deep
The way we communicate is in the way we breathe
U told me "This is the safest place u'll ever be"
So tie me down, i'm ready
I wonder if i'm the only wisdom that u seek
Open me up, i'll be the best book u'll ever read
If beauty and presence and power were the key
So, stop the car, i'm ready
I question if this is how it feels to be alive
I see ur spirit smile in between ur sighs
Pick me up, wash me down with the color of ur eyes
So if i die 2nite, i'm ready
Nothing more
Nothing more
There will never be nothing more
There is nothing
Bring out the child that resides untamed
Tho our bodies age, the fire still remains
And with each rising sun, our souls interwoven and this is what i call Heaven
And there's nothing more
There is nothing
There is nothing

To what extent do we know if they were romantically linked aside from speculation (which may be valid, I'm just asking 'bout da deets nutty)

That's a good point. I really liked them together and he looked very happy with her,at least on stage. Almost like a kid with a crush. I wish they would have worked together longer too. Did you see that pic of Prince that came out last year where it almost looked like a shadow of Andy behind him? People tweeted them about it but they never replied.Made me wonder if they were planning to tour together and it was a hint...it was around the time he announced the piano mic tour for Europe. I think the pic was still up on his Instagram.

I think this was the thing: truly, I think P knew he was unwell and broke it off, breaking Andy's heart (she says as much in her lyrics). The fact that he has her portrait up in PP suggests that he loved her too - but something stopped him marrying her, even though he said in the 'lost' Rolling Stone interview (presumably just before his health started deteriorating) that he was open to tying the knot again.

I don't think they ever stopped communicating, but it seems that Ms. Andy was not willing to do the "harem" thing, or anything that even gave that appearance. Once she left the NPG, Prince reportedly showed up at her appearances around the world. Speaking of his European tour, Andy's tour was already in place, before his was announced. (Of course, as fate would have it, both tours would end up being cancelled.) Interestingly enough, check out this article detailing how he announced his plans to launch the Piano and a Microphone tour in Europe.

Prince: ‘Transcendence.... Oh, boy'

Prince … ‘When was the last time you were scared?’

...We are literally sitting at Prince’s feet: feet, it’s perhaps worth noting, that are wearing a pair of flip-flops with huge platform soles teamed with socks. The socks and flip-flops are white, as is the rest of his outfit: skinny flared trousers, a T-shirt with long sleeves, also flared. As skinny as a teenager, sporting an afro and almost unnecessarily handsome at 57 years old, Prince looks flatly amazing, exuding ineffable cool and panache while wearing clothes that would make anyone else look like a ninny is just one among his panoply of talents.

We are seated at his feet because we are supposed to be asking Prince questions: we’ve been summoned to Paisley Park at short notice, apparently because Prince “had a brainstorm in the middle of the night, two nights ago” and decided this was the best way to announce a forthcoming European tour.

First, there was a tour of the studio accompanied by Trevor Guy, who works for Prince’s record label NPG: he’s friendly, effusive about his boss’s talents and a little evasive when someone asks him whereabouts in Minneapolis Prince actually lives. (“He doesn’t live here. I don’t know where he lives.”)

Then we were told we were getting a treat, which turned out to be listening to some cover versions Prince’s current protege, Andy Allo, recorded with the man himself on guitar. While we’re listening to Andy Allo sing Roxy Music’s More Than This, Prince suddenly appears on the stage and beckons us over.

The dates haven’t actually been confirmed yet, but the concept has: he’s going to perform solo, playing the piano, in a succession of theatres. Read More

WoW. I'm not surprised to hear that. Prince had Andy on the brain, until the very end!!! But, I think she was in that "no ring, no'ting" frame of mind. So, sadly, they wasted precious time at the end.
