PS The sharpie writing on the back seems to say "Stay cool, don't w b no square", "w b" possibly being shorthand for "worry 'bout".

Yes - or:

"Stay Cool

don't u b no square"

OHHH, that makes more sense. I'll go w/ that.

if i had to guess what it would sound like judging by the playful lyrics...it would be a cross between Stare/Feel good, feel better / Love like Jazz. Also I can just imagine his dreamy and seductive voice cloud9

As soon as I read them, the lyric flow reminded me of Stare.

Do you guys sometimes forget, for just a split second?

.

I read those lyrics and immediately started wondering what it would sound like and if/when he might release it and what project it would be, if any. Just like I always have.

.

Then...I remembered. And I got really sad all over again. This is going to be a long process, and in the grand scheme of things 5 months isn't very much time.

Yeah I do.

Like a knife to the heart.

No problem, I'm just glad I wasn't the only one super interested in finding out what the lyrics were, big thanks to you for deciphering a majority of it, and big thanks to the othera for helping.

A lot of people are suggesting this is a sad image but to me it was not one at all. This was a bit of a source of happiness.

Knowing after all he went through, he left doing what he always did. Making music. And from any indication of this song, he was focused on the positive and not letting the negative circumstances around that time bring him down. biggrin biggrin biggrin

I don't think I would have been able to stomach an image of his last set of lyrics dealing with his health and being depressed about it. sad

So I'm taking his last bit of advice and I'll be Staying Cool.

Candy girl just means eye candy he has been seen with but is not in a relationship with such as Damaris or any other pretty lady he is seem with.

Breaking his rules? I love this. He is saying he might be done with celibacy.

I don't think it's rudimentary at all it is very sweet and is only lacking a bridge. :/

You know, I agree - with the first statement at least. I'm not commenting on the relative quality of the lyrics themselves.

.

Just that this whole thing feels like a gross invasion of privacy to me. Does all right to privacy stop when someone passes? (I'm not asking in LEGAL terms, but rather in ETHICAL terms.) Is grave-robbing okay? Going into King Tut's tomb and raiding it for anything that can be found?

.

I get that the Estate was left in a predicament regarding paying taxes and had to concoct a way to monetize these assets.

.

Graceland opened to the public a full five YEARS after Elvis died. Different circumstances, to be sure. But still...

.

Was it fair when they released Kurt Cobain's diaries as a book? Does anyone have a right to see these artists' private works simply because the person who created them is no longer with us?

.

Maybe Sinead was right. I'm not sure I agree with her notion of literally "burning" anything left behind. But I can't get on board with the idea of parading every scrap of unfinished work.

.

Sometimes I feel like some fans feel almost entitled to see/hear/consume whatever they can - like it's a reward or something for having remained loyal. But good, bad, or indifferent, all the material that emerges posthumously will also be dissected by every other Tom, Dick, and Harry in the world. Does this actually add to an artists' legacy?

"Revelation", "Breakdown", "June", "LOok at Me, Look at you" and "Black Muse" were lyrically rudimentary? Oh come on, unfair. I was just saying that Prince messing around on his guitar coming up with lyrics on the fly is not exactly a moment fans should obsess about.

Sounds like someone was worried and talked to him about the pills, and he was saying don't worry about it.

He let her break all of his rules, maybe that meant he was having sex?

Let's not fight. Maybe they were fighting about him taking the pills?

A) There are exceptions to every rule.

B) Several of the songs you named are not exceptions to the rule.

Am I the only one unable to read the end of the first verse and not slip into a Matthew McConaughey voice?

Meh - I'd say a work in progress likely isn't gonna be the most profound thing in the world no matter who the artist is.

Of course it was a work in progress... confused Just some lyrics he jotted down and may have later discarded, given the chance. Do people think songs are immaculately conceieved? razz lol

I don't think that we can speculate that was the last song that he worked on. Paisley had several studios and he was constantly working. I think the engineers that worked at Paisley will be able to tell what his last recording was.

All the time...

How it would sound, the next band (or not), the next album, the cover style, his bio, his new hairstyle. We´ll never know. No more surprises, no more feeling anxious about 'what´s coming' ???

So sad.

Calling the lyrics "stupid" or "banal" or whatever is wrong. You don't know how any of those lines would come across until you heard Prince sing them. Prince was writing songs, not poetry.
