Excerpt from the ET article: As for Prince's unreleased music, sitting and waiting in the vault at Paisley Park, Nelson said that it wouldn't be locked away for much longer. "We're going to pull it up and we're going to remix it and we're going to get it out!" she said, adding that efforts to release the unheard tracks would be made "as soon as possible."

Hmmm, remixing... neutral

I very much hope that with 'remixing' Tyka doesn't mean giving Prince songs to other (modern) artists so they can make their own version using some of the original parts of that Prince song and add some of their own flavor/production to it. That would be awful!!!

I can imagine though (with Prince recording so quickly) most of his unreleased songs might not have had a final mix treatment. I imagine a lot of them are fully arranged songs that just need a good final mix (setting the levels and panning of the different instruments, adding some reverb/delay to give the tracks some space) to make them sound finished, professional and releaseworthy. If that is what Tyka means with remixing and they hire a competent mixing engineer to upgrade the sound from demo quality to professional standards I would not have too much of a problem with that.

But, if they feel they have to resort to remixing then at least I hope they will release double disc sets where one CD holds the original untouched versions and one CD features the same tracks remixed.

I'm glad they covered up the elevator where he died. OMG, he was so close to the outside door.

I wonder if he was coming in or going out? The fact that his clothes were on backyards is strange.

Were they on backwards the entire day since Wednesday or did he come home, sleep, put them back on backwards after taking pills. I have a feeling it was when he came home.

I purchased GM tickets so they have to refund my VIP tickets from the original date. I really wanted to see more than the GM so not happy about this.

Maybe next year things will be better. I do hope they open it as a museum. I hope they don't find reason not to open to the public.

Just watched the interview. Tyka said she had been preparing for his passing for 2 years. She said he told her that he had done everything that he was born to do. Broke my heart to hear that

Sad...just another thing that makes me believe that Prince was physically sick with something. He knew his time was short.

Broke my heart as well. For those who said that "Piano and a microphone" seemed like a farewell, it probably was. Tyka seemed so clear on the number of people who loved him and are still hurting. I think the trip to Paisley will be very emotional.

Am I the only that was completely freaked out when Tyka said she knew for 2 years???

.

More questions now than ever for me.

.

I had a brother die with NO warning. Who knows how she reacted or acted the past 2 years with that knowledge. I just hope she's at peace, which she seems to be.

Eventually every cloud runs out of rain.

Hi, I'm relatively new here as a member but have lurked for years. I'm posting on this topic b/c it really irks me. This interview puts me back at square one with the process of getting past this. In part b/c it just stirs up more sadness, but also b/c it makes my BS meter spike.

In this interview she says it wasn't hard to learn he died b/c she's known it was coming for two years. In the Today interview she says she's taking this the hardest.

As someone else asked in another thread, if he knew and was making plans, then where is the will? And why all the BS about having an investigation if this was all expected.

Sheila has made statements that he was struggling with pain management b/c of long term injuries. Others have corraborated this.

I just can't anymore with all the statements and contradictions, especially this newest one from Tyka.

As a fan I just feel thoroughly jerked around.

The estate and related parties want our support and our money. Okay, how about a little straightforward honesty. I just can't with this anymore.

... heading back into my bell jar. 'Night all.

Let's hope she actually meant that they are going to REMASTER his music.

So where does Self-Preservation come into this?( since he has been emphasizing it at some of P&M gigs, including ATL)

Was he telling us he was fighting to stay alive? or food for thought?

I really want to avoid this topic but with the latest info posted here, it is hard to steer away from sad

I had the same thoughts about this vs the interview she gave on Today. I don't know what to think.

He told all of us 2 years ago very clearly in Way Back Home. He told us again a year ago in June. It should not surprise us that he told those close to him the same thing. Somehow, this gives me some peace that he knew his fate and was preparing for it.

I'm not sure how I feel about them 'remixing them' - unless it's some for unfinished/quality, but I would like to hear them as they are - hope both options will be released, not just the way they think they should sound. disbelief

So if Prince was sick, why is there an investigation going on?

Cause he died of a fentanyl od with no prescription for it. Maybe he started taking it to ease the pain of something else, but it's still the official cause of his death.

Well, I wish they would come clean with whatever happened and stop making all of these cryptic statements. Anyway, if he was sick, why couldn't he get pain meds legally? If it were a simple case of Prince taking too many pills, I would think the case would be open and shut. None of this makes any sense.
