Also, if Prince was sick with Cancer Aids, whatever, the speculation, why would there be no trace of a legal prescription? So we are to believe he was sick with Aids/cancer, some other life threatening/terminal condition, but yet wasn't under a Dr's care at all (oh yeah, he hated drs), but instead was buying illegal Pharmaceuticals to treat his this condition? That makes absolutely no sense, and I am stupidly causing myself stress trying to figure out the truth and trying to make it all make sense. Think I will step away for a minute because this is crazy.

It is crazy. It's makes my head hurt.

Tyka completely contradicted herself . My first thought was ,she's nuts or lying . I don't know what to make of it.
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

I'm tired of the theories. What she said broke my freakin heart. I want the truth whatever the truth is. I believe knowing thebtruth will help me find closure and peace in all of this. The speculation just digs more and more into the wound

That's all I have been banging on about since his death. There are still to many unanswered questions to move on properly.Too many holes in the stories if u like.I don't think Prince was terminaly ill.In fact,it could have been prevented. So if they were close, why didn't she intervine.

According to that article he stopped taking the HIV meds a couple of years ago, trusting his faith in his religion n God to "take care of him"..If he had told Tyka this back then she may very well have been expecting this to happen eventually..

If prince had AIDS trust me he'd be a lot sicker than someone who went on stage a few days earlier. Trust me I'm talking from a very knowledgeable place here.

I personally took tykas quote as meaning that prince was spiritually atunedvto his time. Its just the way he spoke. He always saw himself as some kind of conduit of god.

Apollonia said the complete opposite in her Facebook page..that he had plans etc. So who knows.
I don't think tyka is particularly bright. Sorry so I think she has very simple takes on things

yeah, agreed on that front. time will tell. tyka's words pretty much go with what sheila and others said at the time, aboutt knowing what happened. so perhaps as fans we should just let it be. this man was insanely private in life and gave us so much, let's give him a little something in death. as long as there was no foul play I think im good.

I hear u. It's not the fans that worry me but the media & the how he will go down in history. The incorrect facts started within days. Imagine 10/20/30 etc yrs frm now if it's left like this.

yes I wish there had been more strategic action to at least counter the incorrect facts in the media, which in this day and age have a way of spiralling out of control very quickly.

I believe the fans that truly loved Prince will always respect and admire him.

true on both fronts. ultimately, i think the truth lies somewhere between the official story and tyka's recent statement. legally the med. examiner cannot issue a false report about a death. they can withhold details from the public possibbly, but if Prince had some kind of disease and was seeking treatment they couldnt have said that he flatout was not receiving treatment, etc... Now yea there's every possibility that maybe he was sickk and wasnt receiving treatment or had stopped receiving treatment in a two year period and had tried to manage things on his own - but that just takes us back to square one with pill use as the potential final cause.

Somehow Im not too concerned about Prince's legacy being overshadowed by this in the generations to come. He's no MJ or Elvis. and I say that as a HUGGGGEEEEE MJ fan, Mike's legacy is fucked on some level.

The other thing I will say re Prince's legacy, if there indeed was more going on then on the one hand he really fucked himself by not drafting a will because perhaps everyone is keeping mum and being vague because they dont want to say something they feel he wouldnt want them to say. Then on the other hand judging by statements that have been made, perhaps he left instructions for his fam/friends to not let certain things get out. So if this is how he wanted it it is done, an enigma in life and death. Either way, it's gonna hurt for a while :-/ ... I'm still not at a place where I can listen to his music the way i use to.

While I agree with you that Prince did have a way of speaking like that, there is still a reason for his obviously deteriorating physical appearance and weight over the past two years. From my understanding, he'd been dealing with chronic pain issues for far, far longer than only the past couple years so I don't think being in chronic pain was the single, direct reason for his declining health/appearance (but then again, I also realize I don't know the degree to which he was in pain these last years...as a chronic pain and illness sufferer myself, I cannot disregard what pain itself can do to a person either)

-

I felt long before his passing that something wasn't right with Prince's health sad and largely it was due to his losing weight and looking tired and increasingly frail (my opinion - i know others disagree). So anyway, all this is to say that even if Prince was highly spiritually atuned, I still dont think he was psychic and "knew" he was going to pass in two years and even if he did, it doesn't explain why he looked so unwell. Unless his change in appearance was ALL due to painkillers which I suppose it could be. I still believe he had a terminal illness and accepted it and tried to live with his destiny and get the most he could out of life for as long as he was able.

-

I miss him so much. sad bheart

Furthermore to all this what was Tyka thinking. I think she just meant prince believed his job was dine n that's when god takes you. I think he's wrong but I suspect that's his spiritual take.
However if she had any brain she should have realised that such a broad statement without clarity would open a can of worms.
This issue had been laid to rest in the main. She has done prince n his legacy no favours. This will just be a distraction from the greatness he brought.

It doesn't bode well that such a stupid person has such say in prince's legacy

I agree with both of you. My mom was very ill for almost 10 years, had multiple open heart surgeries, sepsis infections a couple times, organ transplant, and myriad other physical problems in those last years yet, when she finally passed (suddenly and from an entirely unknown problem that she had) despite my 'preparing' mentally for that horrible day, I was devastated and now, two years down the road, I'm still not handling it well. sad Grief is so personal, so complex, and is as unique to each person as their fingerprint. You can't really predict how someone will react, how they'll process it, anything nor can you compare people in terms of how grief "should" look, or how long it'll last.

I agree, it's confusing and contradictory. She could have meant she knew he was dying. She also could have been implying that this is when she discovered he had a problem...whether that's an addiction or periods of depression. People should stop jumping to conclusions and stating speculation as fact. Nobody here knows! I honestly think people are over analysing her comments. It's quite common phrasing for families of addicts to say stuff like that..preparing for the worst or living in fear of THE phone call.

Where can I watch Tyka's full interview? Thanks.

I think this quote has stunned us all & I take Tyka's comments with a bucket of salt.

As for the possibility of his urn being there..my God..surely they should at least forewarn anyone ...being faced with that so soon is too much...way too much.

I'm honestly confused, if they knew prince had a terminal illness than why would they rather let their brother be defined as a opioid addict by the media. Thats more of a stigma than having a disease.

Here is the part from that Rolling Stone interview. What catches my attention is when he raises his eyebrows and says "do I look self-destructive"? Another reason I struggle with the notion he intentionally took his life.

He talks more about mentoring and helping peers, so I wonder aloud if he thinks he could've forestalled Michael Jackson's fate. "I don't want to talk about it," Prince says at first. "I'm too close to it." He goes on: "He is just one of many who have gone through that door – Amy Winehouse and folks. We're all connected, right, we're all brothers and sisters, and the minute we lock that in, we wouldn't let anybody in our family fall. That's why I called Chris Brown. All of us need to be able to reach out and just fix stuff. There's nothing that's unforgivable."

He seems to be hinting at past problems of his own, so I ask if he was ever self-destructive. His eyebrows shoot up. "Self-destructive? I mean ... do I look self-destructive?" This leads him to a disquisition on why he avoids talking about the past. "People say, 'Why did you change your name?' and this, that and the other. I'm here right now, doing what I'm doing right now, and all of the things I did led up to this. And there is no place else I'd rather be than right now. I want to be talking to you, and I want you to get it."

I totally agree with everyone who feels like P was ill and knew it. I think that may have been what the emotional performances may have been about. The releases of purple balloons he sometimes did as well. I will always believe he had some type of cancer like prostate or esophageal maybe. Due to his religious beliefs he may have opted to not undergo treatment and just take pains meds to keep on going as long as he could. I so want him here for selfish reasons BUT I am slowly taking comfort and keep reminding myself whatever pain emotional and otherwise he was dealing with, it's over for him now... Sleep well Prince....sleep well....
