I'd rather you dump it all on me at once. Kinda like winning the Power ball. Do you want the lump sum or a certain amount every year. Give me mine all at once with these Prince releases.

If such an intrusive scenario ever happened, I would find who did it and I would kill them.

Just the thought of such a thing offends my very soul.

The longer it takes, the less people will be interested, people don't live forever!

.

Trickling tracks over the next 20+ years would be a travesty which many fans just won't be around to enjoy.

Give me everything hacked online NOW!

I mean, there is so much material in the Vault , people who think all of it will be officially released are misguided IMO. There wasn't much interest in new Prince albums before his death, what makes you think interest will peak after he has died?

I am afraid that besides remastered classic albums with unreleased bonus tracks and some live DVD's maybe not much more will be released, in all honesty. Keep in mind, if the first compilation albums with unreleased Prince music don't sell well, it might soon be over with Vault releases.

Of course Prince's family might then perhaps set up a new NPGMC where fans can either download or stream all of the music for a fee. That is probably the way to go after -at some point- official new CD/DVD releases of unreleased Prince material fail to spike interest any longer. Let's face it, only hardcore fans will buy these releases, they are not really for the general public.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I would pay for it. But I would want the release to be in chronogical order, if the items in the vault are listed in that manner.

The less interest there is for Prince music, the better shot we all have of getting music in bulk from the vault. If the material was a hot commodity, they would release stuff at an anemic level to capitalize well into the future, but with only the hardcore fans really caring, they are gonna box set a lot of stuff imo.

You just have to look at how releases are dealt with for artists like Hendrix and The Beatles. They both ceased being creative entities more than 45 years ago - and there are 'new' releases by both coming out this very week!

If the estate handles it right we'll be on the hook for decades to come - trust and believe that. And it's not just 'music'. New formats, newly discovered footage, long lost photo shoots - new interviews with those involved etc

I would want the luxury chocolate option razz I would like some new releases every year - like new cds, new DVD releases, new remasterings to be released periodically over time. Not ONLY because I want there always to be more unheard/unseen Prince-bits. But mostly because I believe it is the way to help the legacy endure - there will be no 'stale date' because there will be new releases going forward. Think about it...with the alternative, and everything available all at once, that's it, that's all. That means, the...buzz will fade. And that's not something I ever want to happen for Prince. I think releasing some overtime has the potential to keep new articles, new reviews, and also to interest new fans over time too.

Totally agree with this. I already planned on having photos of P playing music in my studio. Have decided to add Bowie and a few other 'keyboard' artists as decoration to inspire my students. We can contribute to this endeavor! Keep his legacy visible to the future generations. biggrin

The thing with this... it all comes down to who make the decisions.

We can say with almost certainty that everyone wants the Camden 88? gig... I'm not sure the same feelings are there if they decided to release a 3121 Vegas DVD.

Same with albums... do they release albums Prince shelved? Or compile "new" albums from vault material? Songs mixed from different eras and worry about potential "singles".

It's over. He left no plan for the release of this material. Leave the Vault locked. No grave robbing.

Based on the management prowess of the Estate and the engineers comments concerning the handling of the tapes, I'd now go for a full fat leak.

We can get it and play mix tapes with each other. lol

just put in a tender for archival analogue to digital tape transfer - but none of this cheap Netflix "oh sorry, the tape's a bit wonky so all the white noise is a standing flange wave now" business.
