I like "Get on up" "Fun" The radio segue lol

wasn't Don't Worry Be Happy by jazz vocalist Bobby McFarren?

Yes, it just similar to lyrics in the Public Enemy's track Fight the Power.
Probably just a coincidence

Funny, but when I've thought of Carmen Elektra over the years (which isn't very often), this guy's face pops into my head instead of Prince's... razz

Yeah man, baby's weak
She ain't nothin' but another pretty face
you know what I'm sayin'?
She ain't sayin nuttin' (Ain't that.. ain't that a.. ow!)
She needs 2 move on

Do it!
(Witcha bad self) {x4} {James Brown sample}

Ah dance 2 the rhythm - enhance
This is your last chance
Get on the floor
I want the whole house dancin'
Partyup (Uh oh!) Partyup (Uh oh!)
I love 2 push up when I'm rollin' on the tempo
Mic in hand, lookin' grand - understand?
Looks can be deceivin', don't play me soft, I'll rock hard with any man
Or she-man, hell, 4 that matter
I gather I'll receive most of my flack from the latter
People, people, this ain't a sequel
Just another face you say, but really not an equal
That's where U're wrong - dead wrong sucker
you see I'm tired of people singin' the same ole song
Hard work is how you make it
Why go half-ass and fake it?
Worked long and hard, the next plateau is where I'm takin it
you must always take stock in your self wealth
(Go on, girl, witcha bad self) - you know it

(Witcha bad self) {x2}
Go on witcha bad self
(Witcha bad self) {x2}

Ah speak my mind, never hesitant
My time is spent perfectin' what I do, call me anything but militant
About face while I precede with my case
Me and my sisters on a rise in the place (Yo, hold up baby)
Uh uh, I don't think so
Baby, don't play that - besides, not while I'm on a roll
you stepped left so I left your butt standin'
Mumblin' on the few words you had left (She left me hangin')
Hangin's what I'm doin' (Girlfriend, give it 2'em)
Mama said be nice 2 men, they really don't know what they're doin'
So I jack 2 the dance floor
With an individuality U''ve never seen before
So keep the beat rockin', clockin'
The bass is knockin' the walls
Carmen is answerin' the calls
Just layin' 4 the moment 2 get ignorant
Come on C. - Bring in the regiment

(Witcha bad self) {x2}
Go on witcha bad self - you know it
(Witcha bad self) {x2}

Yeah, I bring it hard, but there's a soft side a bit shy
A city-fied girl with an innocence that's still purified
4ever killin' you softly, come love me down
Never will there be no heartache, baby, when I'm around
you could say I'm from around the way
Ask the posse in the hood, they say that "Baby don't play"
Can anyone here rub me the right way? (Oooh) Oooh (Oooh)
Oops, see what I mean?
The little girl in me starts teasin'
Thinkin' of the moment when I am pleasin'
The right one, whoever that may be
And when the time comes, he'll be my one and only
Never spread yourself around or U're bound 2 be held down
How profound that sounds like love on the rebound
Imagine, I just pulled this off my shelf
It was clever - makes me want to jump back and kiss myself

Damn, uh
Yo, baby's gonna go

(Witcha bad self) {x2}
Go on witcha bad self - you know it
(Witcha bad self) {x2}
Yeah, baby's gonna go
U.. you know it

The track was written by Tony M. and Levi Seacer, Jr., and produced by Prince (although no producer credit was given, other than Paisley Park as executive producer). It is possible Prince also contributed to writing the track, but this has not been confirmed.

While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place between Spring, 1991 and early 1992 (at one of Record Plant, Hollywood, CA, USA, Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA or Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA). It was included as the third track on a 15 June, 1992 configuration of Carmen Electra's debut album, then titled On Top (with the artist credit "Carmen"). The released version contains a sampled chant from Say It Loud - I'm Black And I'm Proud by James Brown

March 1991.

Prince begins work on his new discovery, Carmen Electra. Work began at Larrabee Studio in L.A. Prince recorded songs on and off during 1991. Among the first songs were Fantasia Erotica, Carmen On Top and Fun. Fantasia Erotica was a song from the vault which was originally recorded for Anna Garcia/Fantastic.

The album was given the title On Top, but was later changed to Carmen Electra.

26th August 1991.

Prince spends a few days at Larrabee Studio in L.A, he works on Power From Above for the Carmen Electra album. By now, Prince was half way through the album.

Why not?

Because live, she was even worse than Tony M.

Step To The Mic
Step 2 the mic, step 2 the mic, step {x4}

Now U can jump 2 the mic or U can step 2 it
Rollin' on a groove I guarantee U'll break your neck 2 it
Oh, U think my color is controllin' how I deal it
Funk is in my round buns baby, I can feel it
Can I come correct? Bet! - Roll up on the set, check 1, check 2
Smooth as I slide through turnin' heads, call the feds
Cuz nobody wants 2 miss the
Honey steppin' 2 the mic, funky soul sister

Step 2 the mic, step 2 the mic, step {x4}

Sneakin' around a rhyme style as if it was a corner
Carmen Electra's on a mission, I better warn ya
Slick is in my dialect, huh, don't try 2 fight it
When push comes 2 shove if U don't like it, U can bite it
But don't play yourself into believin' that a white girl can't jump
That's a sucker move and U know it is a big front
So just act like U know jack
When I'm steppin' 2 the mic - get back, get back

Step 2 the mic, step 2 the mic, step {x4}
Keep steppin', keep steppin'
Step 2 the mic, step 2 the mic, step {x4}
Now keep steppin'

Makin' moves, makin' moves U know is what I'm doin'
Check the flow of the rhythm that I'm steppin' 2 and

Here I go and U know that I'm wreckin' it
There will be no mistakin' and no forgettin' it
Look alive, yo, I'm in this arena
U don't need an eye test, I'm not a misdemeana
So throw up a fist and make sure it pops
When I'm steppin 2 the mic, a sucker chump gets dumped

Step 2 the mic, step 2 the mic, step {x4}
Now step on, step on
Step 2 the mic, step 2 the mic, step {x4}
Now step on, step on yo

Keep, keep steppin', keep steppin' yo
Just keep, keep steppin', keep steppin' yo
Step 2 the mic and keep steppin', step on
Step 2 the mic and keep steppin', step on yo
Uh, 2 the beat yeah
Uh, 2 the beat, Carmen Electra 2 the beat yeah
Uh, 2 the beat, Carmen Electra 2 the beat, 2 the beat, 2 the beat
Keep steppin' 2 the beat, beat, beat
And yo, step, uh, keep steppin', keep steppin' yo
Yes, step, uh, keep steppin', keep steppin' yo
Step, step on this, step, step on yo
Step, step on and step, step on
Step-ups 2 down and took a round yo
Step-ups 2 down and took a round yo
Uh, and keep steppin', keep steppin', keep steppin', step on
Uh, and keep steppin', keep steppin', step on, huh

Step To The Mic is the fourth track on Carmen Electra's only album Carmen Electra. The track was written by Prince, Monie Love and Levi Seacer, Jr., and produced by Prince (although no producer credit was given, other than Paisley Park as executive producer).

While specific recording dates are not known, Mark Forrester's credit as a recording engineer suggests that initial tracking took place in mid-April 1992, at Platinum Studios, Melbourne, Australia (while also on the Diamonds And Pearls Tour, during the same set of sessions as 51 Hours, Don't Talk 2 Strangers, Poor Little Bastard, The Rest Of My Life, There Is Lonely, Be My Mirror, Wow, and re-recordings of Make Believe and I'll Do Anything).

It is likely (though uncertain) that Monie Love's vocals were recorded on 18 June 1992, at Olympic Studios, London, England during a day off on the Diamonds And Pearls Tour (along with her vocals on Everybody Get On Up). It was not included on a 15 June 1992 configuration of Carmen Electra's debut album, then titled On Top (with the artist credit "Carmen"), indicating that Prince wasn't satisfied with the track before Monie Love's vocals were added.

Carmen Electra - vocals Prince - all instruments, except where noted Michael B. - drums Sonny T. - bass guitar Levi Seacer, Jr. - guitar Tommy Barbarella - keyboards Rosie Gaines - keyboards Tony M. - vocals Monie Love - background vocals Michael B. Nelson - trombone Steve Strand - trumpet Dave Jensen - trumpet Kathy J. - baritone saxophone Brian Gallagher - tenor saxophone

Late March 1992.

A video for Carmen Electra's Go Go Dancer is shot at John Marshall High School in L.A.

Rapper Monie Love guested in the video.

25th April 1992.

Prince records Everybody Get On Up for the Carmen Electra album at Studio 301 in Sydney Australia during the Diamonds & Pearls tour.

4th May 1992.

The first version of the album Carmen Electra is compiled. The tracklist was Power From Above, Carmen On Top, Go On (Witcha Bad Self), Fun, Skin Tight, Go Carmen Go, Good Judy Girlfriend, Fantasia Erotica, Powerline, Just A Little Lovin', All That, This Is My House, Go Go Dancer and The Juice. The album would undergo several changes before it was finally released in early 1993. Five of the tracks from the 4th May configuration were taken off the album and shelved, Power From Above, Carmen On Top, Go Carmen Go, Powerline and The Juice.

25th May 1992.

Carmen Electra opens for Prince as part of the European leg of the Diamonds & Pearls tour. her set was 20 minutes long. Her band were Jason Cameron(guitar), Jack Robin(bass), Greg Sain and Morris Hayes(keyboards), JP Delaire(sax), Jamie Chezz(drums) and Kathleen Johnson(backing vocals). Morris Hayes would later become a member of the NPG. Her set was dropped halfway through the tour. Her voice did not carry well with a live band in large arenas. Prince tried to salvage her act by putting the blame on her band members, who were all replaced one by one with NPG members. The only one who remained from her original band was Hayes.

31st May 1992.

A promo party for Carmen Electra's forthcoming album is held at the Berlin club Exit. Prince and most of the NPG were in attendance.

15th June 1992.

A second version of Carmen's album is compiled. Apart from The Juice being shelved, the album was the same as the May 4th configuration. Promo ads on MTV and in music magazines appeared, as the album was due to be released on July 25th 1992. A single and video of Go Go Dancer had also been released. However, the release was put on hold as WB decided that some of the album tracks would have to be replaced with new material.

It appears that,from the beginning,Warners were never really convinced that Carmen would be the next big thing.They clearly had doubts about her album,which is why it was delayed repeatedly.
