Stevie Nicks should sing "Stand Back."

yeahthat Would love that.

If I had my druthers, no one would sing any well-known Prince songs. People to whom he gave songs should sing those songs (like Martika with Love Thy Will Be Done, Sheena with Eternity, the Bangles with Manic Monday, etc). It is a much clearer indication of the breadth of his influence and, frankly, a lot easier on our hearts than hearing someone else screech his way through The Beautiful Ones.

Sooo true.

See how quickly it morphed into the fill the venue (with current $$makers) mentality? This is the crap Prince had to deal with all the time. The word MEMORIAL got scrapped by "concerned" people. WTF?

Brand new boogie without the hero.

i don't know that it IS officially called a Memorial -- I think it's being called a "tribute concert." And I assume the organizers chose a massive venue because they want/need to fill the venue. A half-empty venue would seem sad, I think sad

Really so now it's sad if it's not filled with the current famous doing Prince covers? Sounds like a moneymaking "tribute" from the get.

I have zero interest in this Memorial because it's a money spin with jackoffs telling tall tales how much Prince meant to them... A Memorial is an Undertaker last paycheck before the dump

no, i mean it'd be sad if the stadium itself is not filled. I'd love to see a venue (even a smaller venue than US Bank, if that works better) bursting with an audience all appreciating P and his legacy rather than lots of empty seats. Given that the organizers chose a massive venue, I imagine they were thinking of a certain scale of event.

I don't think that has to mean currently famous doing Prince covers. Could mean a lot of things -- just has to be exciting and appealing to enough people to buy tix and come to that venue. That's my 2 cents, anyway.

Should the expanded version of The Revolution that Prince performed with during the Parade tour perform together at the memorial tribute concert or the original version of this band? The expanded version would include Eric Leeds, Susannah, Jerome and other artists he selected for the expanded version of his The Revolution band.

What does everyone think?

It's surprising how most fans/fams have not weighed in on the portion of time during the Prince memorial tribute that should be focused on film screenings of his performances vs. live performances of other artists (associated or not).

Why is that? Please share your thoughts.

Should Sly Stone duet with Jesse Johnson with Larry Graham on bass during the memorial tribute or not? Would that attract more people? Maybe it does not matter because fans/fams would be happy or would they not?

Should Celine Dion perform the beautiful "With This Tear" that Prince gave her? She may draw more people to the memorial tribute, but would some fans/fams be against it because she is too commercial, etc.?

One of the last albums Prince purchased was an album by the new wave band "Missing Persons". Should they reunite and perform too or would you be against that? Please remember that the lead singer was on Paisley Park and he gave her a song.

It would be awesome if Tyka, Omar and the rest of his siblings would share personal stories about Prince.

In fact, it would be great if Tyka would perform a song selected by her dedicated to her beloved brother Prince...

Perhaps Prince's family can look at today's public memorial being held in Mexico City for superstar Juan Gabriel as a model for Prince's memorial?

According to an article that was just published in Billboard Magazine, 700,000 people are expected to attend. It's the third public memorial being held for him since he passed away and it's suppose to be the biggest.

The program consists of a mix of Juan Gabriel's protégés and some of today's major recording artists interpreting his songs. The latter are singers that had worked with him in the past and that have previously recorded his songs.

Live performances will be done within the main venue (Palacio de Bellas Artes) and outside of it. To accommodate the masses, they will also have huge screens outside of the venue.

Some streets have also been shutdown for the massive crowds that will be arriving.

It will also be televised live throughout the world.

Juan Gabriel was also cremated. His ashes will be placed on an altar next to a giant photo of him at the public memorial.
[Edited 9/5/16 14:20pm]

Is it possible for a public tribute similar to this massive one (nearly 1 million fans/fams) held yesterday for Juan Gabriel would occur for our beloved Prince? He deserves much more than this. Let's hope that the memorial tribute on October 13th is much greater than this one.

Tamara (Margie) & The Seen? Should they be invited? Yes, they should and backed by The Jesse Johnson Revue!

Sad that many of these great artists have not been suggested by fans/fams...

I would love to see Bonnie Raitt. P's cover of her "I Can't Make You Love Me" was sublime. I think Patti LaBelle should be invited. Frank McComb, who often jammed with Prince, should also be there. What about Miss Lauryn Hill???

These are some fun suggestions too! Lauryn Hill would be amazing. Sounds like her cover of Nothing Compares 2 U was exception (from the events at First Ave this weekend).

I would pay for pay-per-view or some type of livestream. I saw Jon Bon Jovi and the Kings of Suburbia via Stage-it on my computer (it was a benefit concert). $50. I believe Mayte used Stage-it for one of her dance classes recently. I would pay over $100 to see the October 13 event. Whatever it would cost. $200. Whatever.

I definitely hope they make this available for those who can't attend of those of us who don't luck out with a ticket. People could host Prince tribute viewing parties if unable to attend in person nod grouphug
