What would ASAP mean in this case?

No mr Prince to object but how speedy would the Estate make the arrangements for a release?

Can a Christmas release become reality?

(I am then counting on a release in early December)

I hope it's the shelved Second Coming film. We need a new Prince movie at the theatres.

Does anyone on earth get how this vault thing is going to or should work?Ok he has 1000's of unrealeased songs in there correct? Now his own words on the A.H. show he said he would just throw them in there and those are the songs that he took them as far as he could go.Are these songs he hated?Didn't care about? Are some half finished? What do u do with them finish his songs and release it.If the vault hasn't been opened how the hell would u know that the will isn't in there.Wish A.H would of pushed him more on it.40 years later hendrick still has fresh albums out and tupac. How can a reg person determine all this?Wouldn't they almost have to have W.B buy it.Or would it be auctioned off highest bidder? What about other contents that maybe in there?MONEY,PICTURES,BLACKBOOK,SEXY PICTURES,VIDEO'S,LETTERS,PAPERWORK,DEEDS....Finally how was it never opened if there is still an investigation going on?Sorry for all these dumb questions. Its just so confusing is all.

It is quite complicated, but Bremer Trust is in charge of managing Prince's estate. I think the Vault was material that was never completed. I'm sure all of his personal items and paperwork have been collected and being kept while the investigation is still on-going.

Interesting......and to think he left all this behind and no will.....hmmm eek

.

The unreleased song archive could, if his estate wants, remain artificially scarce for 120 years. It is possible to imagine that the hype will be considerable in the year 2136, when the last Prince album is released. So, behind the white walls of his Minnesota mansion, Prince may have pioneered a form of information capitalism much more sophisticated than Bowie’s, and greatly more far sighted than the contracts designed by studio lawyers.

.

120 years!! Wow!! eek

Look what they found.

You can find the rest of the story at the link. Some pretty cool stuff.

Here’s list of what we know the vault contains, so far:

The Rebels — A collection of rock songs done with members of The Time in 1979.

The Second Coming — Documentary film and live album from 1982.

Apollonia 6 film — A cinematic attempt to do for Apollonia 6 what Purple Rain did for Prince.

Sexy Drummrfunkr — Collection of drum solos by Sheila E.

The Flesh — Live jam sessions from late 1985.

If you read through the list, it is an obvious fake. Written by a Prince fan with knowledge, or someone that found princevault or read about unreleased projects on wikipedia.

.

Clues are quite obvious: "made to size" jokes, albums with people Prince has never been associated with and are quite far from Prince's style of music. Also this running joke about BMX bikes and the autographed pic of Willy Kanis and allusions to colours, especially the Teal thing (with the neon letters rejected by the neon museum).

.

And if all that wasn't enough evidence of this being a joke, there is also this one:

'47 pairs of high heel ankle boots — Tagged “For Bata Museum.”'

Just an opinion but like I've said elsewhere how the Beatles Anthology boxset organized their different phases with outtakes and alternate versions in a volume set. Prince fans and those just getting into him will have a product that fills in the dots between the major releases

Pfff.... 120 years.
Any idea how they got to that number? I think I do.

The article is says: "Collaborators say there’s a vault of unreleased songs that constitute 70% of Prince’s oeuvre" (which would imply that 30% has been released)

So what (I think) the writer did is simply devide the 37 years (1978 - 2015) of released Prince's music output by 30 and multiplied it times 100 = 123 years.

as it says in the article:

.

For an economy based increasingly on intellectual property, copyright laws are crucial. The conglomerates who own the major music and movie studios have, over time, managed to extend the life of copyright to – in the US – life plus 70 years. If the creator is a “corporate body”, the term extends to 120 years from the creation date.

.

Those numbers are insane.. Why should Prince be incentivised to create more (the basis of copyright) after his death?

.

Prince put all his rights into a corporation before he died. Controlled by him, and now by the heirs. Meaning, instead of the already preposterous 70 years (see recent lawsuits over Anne Frank's diary), there is 120 years on the newest recorded work. (say, the Atlanta P&M shows)

.

That's where the 120 number comes from, not from however much there might be in the vault.
