Sounds like a another gem I would love to have. Not sure where all the anger towards Quest is coming from. At least he played these so we could hear it. These are all likely coming from Eric Leeds, nothing more complicated than that. The more we know and make noise about wanting these tracks, more likey they will be included on a new set of vault songs in the future.

nod

i can't be mad at questlove, he's the reason i got to hear a bit of Emotional Pump etc. i mean, yes,
it's an audience recording and such, but it was fun to hear it.

besides, it's cool with me if people like questlove are somehow in the inner circle and will at least
be heard when they offer an opinion on what might be released from the vault (in so far as prince
hasn't actually compiled whole albums and such, ready for release).

there have already been people in the prince camp saying no vault stuff should be released at all,
so the more people wanting this stuff the better. it will send a signal to the estate, perhaps. plus,
you have to ask yourself this: Tyka was quick to shut down clips of even under a minute, being
shared of the revolution gigs. but somehow questlove seems exempt from the cease and desist,
for now. and he's the one who was banging out unreleased music while Tyka was at least at one
of these nights.

admitting, she might not be as up to speed with all of prince's releases and such, but quest would
have to have a pretty big set of brass balls to play that stuff with all those 'in the know' about, of
whom some have even said vault material should stay in the vault. (can't remember who said so
exactly, but i did read about it a few times in the last couple of months).

beyond that, the trading or circulation of material we haven't heard yet and only a few people do
have access to, just remember that all the vault material we do already have came from a couple
of sources and no doubt more is to come in the future. stuff is still being 'released' most notably
songs like "adonis and batsheba" or "the fles" project in recent years. stuff is trickling out. i can
see why they wouldn't just put out a boxset of 20 unreleased tunes just like that. it would cause
too much of a fuss and someone would get sued i guess. and banished from the prince camp -
which is now extra critical since people are hoping to be consulted or even asked to curate stuff
from the vault, from their respective eras.

is it silly that some people keep mentioning to have heard stuff none of us have? yes. it's silly
and frustrating. but they probably paid a lot of money for it, or they have friends in higher up
places who they are loyal to. i can understand them hanging on to stuff in both cases. but the
bragging is still silly.

openly attacking someone for having a connection to prince's associates or a even a 2 degree
of separation thing going on, is just as bad though. be thankful we already got so many studio
and live tracks over the years, absolutely free of charge.

i think this is a big misunderstanding because if they had...then....

No misunderstanding. I didn't realize these were that rare at the time. I don't download like I used to, so I thought they were from The Work or iVault or something.

i doubt it`s true. i need proof for that. otherwise it`s a misunderstanding.

if that had happened to any collector or fan, they would at least show some kind of regret or emotion.

so, for now - i keep thinking that this is a misunderstanding unless i see proof.

that doesn`t mean i don`t like you, or that i think you`re not a good person and whatnot.

i am just saying that it`s unlikely that any of this happened. because thousands of people check out youtube all the time and those tracks would have leaked on a massive scale. they haven`t.

Don't know how to prove it. Im not wrecked about it because I don't think that rarity equals quality.

Somebody has them. Somebody put them on YouTube. Those songs I heard a while ago were the ones I heard Friday night. I checked my subscriptions on YouTube and more than half my subs were removed, so I cant even tell you which ones may have had it.

Don't worry, it's out there and will make the rounds eventually.

I agree, there must be a full version of it out there somewhere. Of course an emotional pump is a metaphor for a penis. It is still bizarre why Prince would give someone like Joni Mitchell a dirty song like that to record, rather than to some 21 year old engenue with stars in her eyes and Prince's emotional pump in her lol

Does anyone find Questlove sort of annoying at times. I like the dude but he seems to think that Prince died in 1990.

apparantly Questlove is not in danger of having legal battles for playing these songs (come home, the screams of passion, emotional pump, elektra tuesday, love and sex) in public.

that makes me wonder if a release of some sort is already in the works.

Yes, I agree. This is pure speculation, but it would be surprising if Questlove could play these “bootlegs” in such a public and Prince-oriented arena without the tacit approval of the estate. It might be the case that they are simply whetting our appetites in lieu of an upcoming release. Personally, I’d be quite pleased if he was involved in curating the vault material. He has pretty sound creative judgement as an artist and as a fan. Also, I think he’d respect the music as it exists, resisting any suggestion that tracks should be altered beyond a little basic mastering (talk of “finishing” Prince’s music makes me feel really queasy). As I said, pure conjecture, but if he were involved in putting together an album that ranks alongside Prince’s best, we’d all be singing his praises.

Regarding “Emotional Pump”, it sounds great but what on earth was Prince thinking? I can see Joni covering something like “Condition of the Heart” or “Power Fantastic”, but a sexually charged funk track with “pump” in the title?

I'm not sure he needs their approval, but I hope there is a release soon. He spun at First Ave in 2012 after the Revolution reunion benefit and played several boots ("Wonderful Ass" is the one that comes to mind immediately).
