The greater part of the world does not have `english` as their primary language.

So please stop complaining about them lyrics especially if the artist did not provide you with a lyrics booklet in the first place.

In theory you are right; I experienced species (briton form the opposite sex) that went 'you offended me' to me because she could not bear anything that was a critique in public. (even when stuff was not intended as such...)

i'll bet you could find more of his fans angry that he stopped writing those kinds of lyrics and also changed some of his old ones.

Nobody is making you read this thread.

.

.

If the terms as 'gross' end up in the subject of a thread that is visble when viewing the Music and More messages then that makes me wonder what people think is gross over there.

Gross (the english word) is a slightly subjective description of things.

This means that my gross is not your gross.

That was made clear by my remark about english, albeit perhaps in an indirect manner.

It is the same thing as the 'offended'experience I went through.

Some people can only say that instead of giving a coherent rebuttal.

They throw a 'discrimination' card of some sort this way.

And that of course is weak.

I can give you cringworthy moments, the mtv interview was full of embarrassing moments for me, i thought he was just too full of himself at that stage in his career and it was embarrassing watching him mug for the camera, some parts of UTCM were dissapointing too..also, i remember seeing him at a soundcheck, through a window before a concert, he pimpwalked on the stage, for some reason, that dissapointed me. so, cringworthy and dissapointing moments? many, offensive ones? no.

I'm european. We dont get offended that easy.

You know, that's stereotyping on both sides if we're being honest.

Just FYI - as a U.S. citizen I'm more offended by some European claiming I get offended easily than I am about nudity/sexual content.

lol

Doesn't that just make you fit the description even more?

All Americans doesn't get offended easily, but in Europe we find the double standards and hypocracy in American media to be hilarious, and sometimes dangerous. To Europeans, it seems like Americans have a tendency to think of sexuality as something unnatural, immoral, a sin, something dangerous... Yet sex is all American media care about, and all movies are focused on sex. It seems a bit contrived. That's probably why very few artists are able to make music with a vulnurable and outragous sexuality at the same time. Prince managed that well. Most rappers distance themselves from sexuality, even though they talk about sucking, fucking etc in the most explicit ways. They're usually just explaining porn scenes with words. That's the laziest form of provocation. Anyone can do it, with an average creativity and some lack of moral, or responsibility. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge rap fan, and some of these guys are creativly my heroes. However, Prince is one of the few artists that was able to really provoke without even doing anything that I would consider immoral. If uncomfortable is the same as immoral, then yes. However, sometimes uncomfortable is what we need. And his way of expressing a vulnurable sexuality combined with a whole lot of BALLS, is really challenging this hypocracy. I gotta admit though, we have some of the same hypocrasy in Europe too. It's just not as polarized and comical.

I tried to find the correct thread but couldn't. So even though I'm a straight WOMAN, I'm going to put here the song that most offends me. I just remembered it because I never listen to it, skip it every single time. Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance> It's talking about a few things here which I guess many are in agreement with. But what stands out to me is basically it's a song about an older woman messing around with a younger man and it's viewed with disgust. From the whole there is no such thing as time therefore age is just a number mentality. Of course that's only viable when the man is older and the woman is younger then it's a beautiful thing and it's true love. Yep, it rubs me the wrong way every time.

The song is about an older woman with a younger man, but I don't recall anything in there that hints at disgust in that dynamic, so maybe you didn't quite get it?

.

"She knew which fork to use but she couldn't dance
So he hipped her to the funk in exchange for the finance"

.

The woman wanted to play ball, but she couldn't get in the game. So she found someone she could pay to play with her. She bought him stuff and he made the most of them hips and lips while making fun of her looks... ugly, pale, big nose that glowed in the dark.

None. Somehow, even Prince made the vomit-inducing term "make love" palatable.

I just looked up the top 10 Hollywood grossing films for the last weekend and sex barely registers. A few animated (fuck, Americans LOVE that animated disney shit), a few action films, a Tarzan film and a Ghostbuster movie. But I hear what you are saying because there is a certain contingent that likes to pretend sex doesn't exist even though it's in our faces every day. But I've never met someone who thought sex was unnatural, immoral, or sinful. Even christian conservatives don't believe such a thing under very narrowly defined circumstances. That particular contingent is, however, easily, and often hypocritically, offended as it pertains to sex. But don't blame the rest of us smile.

Americans like;

.

Talking about sex.

Guys, if you didn't already know this I'm here to tell ya, girls are shameless when they talk to each other about the sex they have with their boyfriends.

But don't worry too much, they don't usually talk with each other about the sex that they have with their husbands.

Because sex between married people is just plain boring, any nobody wants to know.

.

Watching sex.

The porn industry in this country is thriving, and has been ever since VCR's were invented.

.

Joking about sex.

Watch any sitcom sometime with a case of beer, and take a swig everytime there is a sexual inuendo or a joke about sex.

.

Romantising sex.

Watch "Grey's Anatomy" sometime. That show isn't about doctors in training, it is a soap opera about which georgious girl gets which georgious guy, and what their love/sex life is like.

.

The sexual revolution happened, to the point that parents put their daughters on the pill when they start menstruating as a precaution. (I discovered this when I had a job as a camp counselor with the YMCA)

.

Most parents know that telling their kids to be abstinent, is pointless and hypocritical.

.

I could go on and on, but I am Off Topic.

.

I think that Western Europeans think that Americans are wierd about sex, because we are more strict in this country about NUDITY than they are.

Yeah. Because wherever you go in the world there's an American taking photos.

You guys must practice a lot.

Japanese are too polite to do it.
The French talk whilst doing it.
The British do it with their eyes squeezed shut they're so uptight.

The only song I've ever found remotely offensive by Prince is "Animal Kingdom". I actually find it kind of funny, & enjoyable in certain areas, but I also find certain lyrics in the song a bit judgmental, & questionable.

الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!
