There is barely over 48hrs left of this Month!! Getting super anxious! Don't want to miss out but the waiting is nerve-wracking! August is technically the 'next month' from when this was announced so...either they are aiming for the last day...or the really don't have it together yet - which is FINE they clearly have a lot on the table. But a simple update saying something like 'working out the kinks, event still on, more info as soon as we can' or something. It's just weird with how Tours for PP was announced and 3 days later on sale...what's the hold up here?

The anticipating is making me a little nutty wacky excited

Hello everyone! I am a new member but long-time lurker. Always come here to see the latest news. I would like to address those that are not happy with Lady Gaga possibly being at the Memorial. First off, if any of you own her first CD (Fame) and have read the 'Thank you' part, then you know that she makes it a point to give a nod to Prince. He was a big influence on her. Also, on her second album (Monster), there is a song called 'Monster' that is definately a throw back to the Prince music from the 80's. It totally sounds like something His Royal Bad*ss would record. I'm not chastising anyone for their taste in music, just pointing out that Lady Gaga truly loved Prince. I feel that she is really a gifted artist/singer/songwriter/producer/musician and I would love to see her pay tribute to our beloved Prince. As for the David Bowie tribute that she did- there were technical difficulties that messed it up for her. The way I see it, she is the only performer out there that comes close to Prince's greatness. That's my opinion folks and you don't have to agree with it at all, that's fine. No one will ever even be in the same universe of talent that Prince lived in, ever. He was the greatest performer that this world has ever seen and I am so thankful that I was able to witness his amazing talents that he shared with us. He made it all look so d*mn easy, didn't he?

Thank you. Who is the official spokesperson at this time in regard to what is going on regarding all things Prince? It would be nice if there were someone specific named, or even a Facebook page or a website that we can check or get email from...or is there already one? I know about the officialPaisleyPark page.

Press releases are still the preferred method until an official outlet is selected. All other mentions of the family tribute may be misleading.

Okay, thanks again.

So, it's been over 4 months now since Prince's passing and, like so many of you, I am still in shock that he truly is gone. The pain catches me in unexpected moments. I have been a fan of his music and him since Controversy was released. Then came 1999 and I was hooked forever! I used to listen to 1999 over and over, just digging the grooves that he laid down for us to listen to. I lived down in Pasadena Texas and was walking along Spencer Highway late at night, listening to the radio on my boombox when the dj came on the air after playing the single 1999 and said 'Hey, I have a brand new song from Prince here that I think you're gonna like.' and he proceeded to play 'How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore?'. That song blew my mind! I felt Prince's pain and loneliness. That was when I knew that Prince had more to him than 'Don't worry, I won't hurt you, I only want you to have some fun'! That's when his music changed me and made me appreciate just how huge his talent was. I knew that he wasn't going to just last for 7 years (the average chart life of any singer/musician) and that he was going to be singing songs for a long, long time. I just wish it was for much, much longer. It's been hard for me to listen to his music, but it does get easier each day. I never met him, but he was my friend, he was an outsider as I was, he was different as I was and I'm so thankful that he shared his talents with the world. He made my life better and I will always love him for that.

thanks 4 mentioning the connection -- I think it would b cool 2 see her and it would help ticket sales. my only hope about per4mers was that artists who P publicly promoted (because they were independent or could use some more exposure) would be featured as well, but either way i'm excited about whatever the family has n store wink

Come on. Do you really want to see Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars at a Prince tribute ?

IMHO, they suck.

Maybe I'm a bit too old-school and too traditional, but I want The Time, The Revolution, fdeluxe, and Sheila E. as a minumum requirement.

I don't want to see artists that have so little in common with Prince and only have a constructed or remote connection.

I am aware that my wish list does not consist of typical "stadium bands" but what kind of Prince tribute is this going to be without his associate artists ?

But maybe this all is going to happen. We don't know at this moment.

Just my five cents.

Yes, my sentiments exactly. I'm hoping that everyone participating in the event held at First Avenue this coming weekend happen to show up at the Tribute Concert too. But, I can handle a few artists that weren't in his world, but love to see those that you mentioned.

Since the Revolution are doing their own shows at First Ave I'd be surprised if they were there. Apparently Sheila has her own show that night so looks like she won't be there either. This event is happening in a large stadium. They need some big names to fill the stadium. I'm not saying Lady Gaga either. Plus that's just a very sketchy rumor at this point.

Okay I'm sorry but I just found out some very disappointing news. I actually got to talk to someone at the US Bank Stadium who confirmed it to me that a contract for the prince tribute concert on October 13th has not yet become official. Paisley Park and US Bank Stadium have not yet signed a contract!@¿☆# The official at US Bank Stadium told me that if a contract were to be signed tomorrow we would still get advance notice of sales through their newsletter, if you sign up for their newsletter on their site. I asked if a contract is signed tomorrow, would a newsletter come out and say sales will be in X number of hours? And I was told no you would get days notice. I am extremely upset!!!! Why have they not given information just saying sales will not be taking place until sometime in September, for whatever reason? it doesn't have to be anything technical. Just at least say it. and not on the last day of August or the second to the last day of August. I think this is an extreme disrespect 2 Prince himself and unfortunately his reputation. Not just Paisley Park but because of Paisley Park. I can't even imagine how Prince feels and thinks about this {insert your own word here}. I think all of you have been doing the same thing as me and checking everyday, over and over, Ticketmaster, and the web asking when tickets are going to go on sale. And we've been wasting our time because a contract has not been signed yet! I can't Express how disappointed and {insert your word here} that I feel. I still think it's going to happen on Oct 13th but why not give us information?????

eek wow I'm glad I did not have the funds to event attempt the trip then! I can't help but wonder becasue his estate assets are basically frozen and the family may not have the money to secure the venue could be the hold up? If it is a matter of the money to secure the venue I wonder where are all P's BIG NAME and BIG MONEY peeps that could help the family out with this stuff? Jay-Z had his catalouge on Tidal couldn't he and Beyonce float some bills to the family or something?

Seriously, anything would be better than that lame Madonna tribute. I, too, would love to see all of the old school bands, especially Sheila E., perform at this tribute, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I just don't know how I would feel about seeing The Revolution performing songs without Prince singing them and dancing across the stage. It just wouldn't be the same anyway. Nothing's going to be the same either way. Sheila E. and the rest of them did an amazing tribute at the BET awards, which I'm sure was so very emotional for her and the rest to do. I'm glad that Mayte was included in that, which was very gracious of Sheila to ask her to be included in that. I burst into tears at the end, when they were standing side by side, and I saw the look on Sheila's face. It was heartbreaking.

To be all honest, I'm still excited to go. My family in Mpls is excited I'm comin'. And there is PLENTY to see and do. Knowing that some of us fams will be there in the same time and space makes it all the more precious. The PP tour and bus tour is good for me. The tribute pales in comparison. Just by the reactions to it that I've seen on this board, yaw'll ain't crazy about the tribute either. Let's make the trip for us to heal and pay our respects.

Your five cents is just perfect to me! I won't even attend if none of those old-school acts are included and would love the newer bands and proteges as well. In my mind, "related" acts are nothing more that what we've already seen on the awards shows.

Noticed there has been quite a bit of legal activity with estate filings, including amendments to the orders relating to confidential business. I am wondering if all the approved list of heirs have to agree on business matters before they could proceed with something like the concert or if L. McMillian can just move forward as the entertainment business legal rep. If they can't even agree on the heirs yet, I don't know how all of them could come together to agree on an event. eek

And that is why I haven't booked any hotels rooms or any tickets to tour the park. I think the event might happen but I wouldn't be shocked if A) the date changed B) they can't get people they want. C) the whole thing will be a bust.

I guess Dr Funkenbery is right when he stated in his recent shows there are some chaos behind the scene with organizing the memorial.

I wish Sheila E would stay on as musical director but I read off another thread the estate want to take over and want to attract bigger stars like Bruno Mars or something like that. They (the estate) should have focus on the legal side and let Sheila E did her thing as she wanted to attract the 80s Purple lineup and plus other guests. I have a dream of seeing it televised. StopIt

For those who have planned travel, focus on your own moment and the mere possibility of having access to PP or the vicinity.

That is All.

That is Plenty.

This tribute stadium debacle is so unprofessional and embarassing on everyones' parts.

And Please Stop making excuses for any and all:

"family",

proteges,

off-shoot past talent collaborators,

former bands, dancers, tambourine and/or ass-shakers,

tax collectors,

estate paperwork pushers,

shitty "entertainment lawyers", estate handlers, and otherwise.

There are No excuses for this.

Nothing should have Ever been announced prior to all talent, all venue, all merchandising conracts, licenses, and insurance coverages being Fully Locked Down prior to any announcement.

What kind of idiot poo-bah attorney Twitter-twatters in the way this person does?

.

Its simply Not what legit, practicing attorneys do, and that's the damn deal.

Why is such a person travelling from coast-to-coast-to-coast if there's So much that must be done there?

If you're billing as though its a full-time gig, treat it like a full-time gig and stay there to see the matters through properly. No legit firm needs you elsewhwere for anything, please.
