"wait a few more days before you waste any prayers". Quite a statement.

What do you suppose he meant by it? Is a prayer ever wasted? Had he had an epiphany and abandoned his religion? We'll never know I suppose.

I imagine it was his way of saying he was Ok. That in a few days things would quieten down and it would be business as usual. I don't think there was any deep meaning behind it.

to me he was saying next time you hear something (like a plane landing), wait a bit before flipping out and worrying and praying.

i really believe he did not expect to be gone a few days later sad

I agree, I dont think he meant anything by it. It was just his way of trying to say he was OK

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Exactly! I don't think he meant for anyone to look for some deeper meaning in what he said. I also don't think he would want anyone to look at what he said in hindsight and think that he "knew". I think he said it with the thought in his mind simply that he wanted to assure everyone he was fine.

Twitter had exploded with the story of his influenza and the emergency landing and people were panicking and everyone (particularly American's were praying for him). Some conflict arose because Europeans didn't realise that Americans pray so quickly. He probably read it all.

.

He could though of course also known that things weren't good with his health. Because indeed it is one HELLUVA statement and too prophetic for my liking.

.

The actuall statement I read quoted in a Paisley party report was 'wait a day or two' before you start praying. i.e. chill and wait before you think the worst.

I agree completely with this. If you read statements from people that were there, he was very clearly refering to the emergency landing and the fact that he is fine so people should have saved their prayers a few days.

I see it differently...I mean who says that? A prayer is never wasted. Maybe he knew in a few days we'd need them for him and ourselves eek

No it's not. I've spent my fair share of time in a hospital and have often found need to asuage people's worries and efforts of prayer put my way.

You people are reading way too much into it. He just didn't want people acting like he was on death's door or dead already. He thought he was back and feeling okay. He couldn't have known. He didn't know. Poor dude.

Yeah, I've read that too. It always bothered me that the quote changed some times, so one could not really got to know what was really said. Glad you read that too and I'm not alone on this. Now just wait for someone to confirm this or do just the opposit.

It's clear that Prince didn't want anyone to know that he was ill or anything, celebs will do or say anything to protect their secrets. As we all know, Prince was very private, and always protected his privacy, so when he got wind of his fans worrying about him after the emergency plane thing, this was probably his way of trying to convince everyone that he was okay, and that nothing was wrong with him.

No that's not the way you would word if. Wait to waste prayers on me ok, but wait a few more days? Nope. I don't buy it, any of it.

The 'few more days' was almost certainly a reference to the days between the incident (v.late Thursday, technically Friday AM) and the Saturday night he made the statement.

He's not talking about the next few days, but the last two. Probably.

How this simple, straightforward statement is garnering so much and confusion and speculation is astounding.

Edit:It makes u wonder what some of these people think when u ask a simple, "hello, how are you doing?"

It's his way of saying

don't make a fuss, give it a couple of days, I'll be fine.

Lol. It's no wonder he was so guarded when interviewed. People second guessing him, misconstruing almost anything he'd say.

It's so, so messed up he's gone. He was aging without grace. Physically obviously beautiful but he wasn't accepting his age. All this posturing leaving the impression he was desperate. He'd made his money he should have slowed down, embraced his age. He should have got a bloody hip replacement and flushed away the silly notions of the silly JW brain candy. Musically he was far from finished. So many possibilities.

For a religious person it was a weird statement because prayers are always welcomed.

How is that I've seen many religious people, with my own eyes and ears, turn down prayer, avoid praying people, as well as deliberately change the topic of a prayer. Maybe religious people SHOULD always welcome prayer. That's not what happens though. I'm not even gonna get into the shenanigans played at religious holiday family get togethers to avoid being the one giving the meal prayer.

Imma give u a scapegoat though...personally, I'm am Athiest. Not my family though...just me.

Still weird for a religious person to say wasting prayers.

I believe the "wait a few more days before you waste any prayers" comment was Prince selflessly saying to pray for those that are in worse conditions of circumstances than he is. The power of prayer is powerful and I believe he didn't want folks worrying themselves due to what he felt were exaggerated reports of the emergency plane landing i.e. TMZ.

It was a cover-up. Prince thought he was the ulimate player/pimp etc. 'I cannot be played. If you try to play me, you play yourself'. He was trying to cover his ass. He didn't want anyone to suspect he liked H. The emergency landing made national news and his shit was awfuly close to being exposed. Sadly it all caught up with him anyway.

In light of what we now know, I think he meant "wait till you hear I'm in rehab, and pray for me then."

Well said. I heard he actually did have hip surgery in 2010. I knew when I saw him on the 2015 grammy awards he did not look good. Watch when he goes up the stairs with his cane, his face says it all how in pain he was. Hip and knee pain is not fun. It's crippiling. I really think he was in so much pain that he became addicted to the pain meds, Percocet. Not sure if he sought out other therapeutic methods, but I do believe he did not want to stop performing because he loved it. And the pain meds were the only way for him to keep going. Why Prince was left alone after that plane incident is suprising. He should have received treatment immediately.
