You people are reading way too much into it. He just didn't want people acting like he was on death's door or dead already. He thought he was back and feeling okay. He couldn't have known. He didn't know. Poor dude.

What about the supposed Walmart salesperson who said she would pray for him, and she heard him mumbling you should have prayed for me a year ago.

We're not sure if that's true? Perhaps?

It's his way of saying don't make a fuss, give it a couple of days, I'll be fine. Lol. It's no wonder he was so guarded when interviewed. People second guessing him, misconstruing almost anything he'd say. It's so, so messed up he's gone. He was aging without grace. Physically obviously beautiful but he wasn't accepting his age. All this posturing leaving the impression he was desperate. He'd made his money he should have slowed down, embraced his age. He should have got a bloody hip replacement and flushed away the silly notions of the silly JW brain candy. Musically he was far from finished. So many possibilities.
Well said. I heard he actually did have hip surgery in 2010. I knew when I saw him on the 2015 grammy awards he did not look good. Watch when he goes up the stairs with his cane, his face says it all how in pain he was. Hip and knee pain is not fun. It's crippiling. I really think he was in so much pain that he became addicted to the pain meds, Percocet. Not sure if he sought out other therapeutic methods, but I do believe he did not want to stop performing because he loved it. And the pain meds were the only way for him to keep going. Why Prince was left alone after that plane incident is suprising. He should have received treatment immediately.

I wish he had retired from live performances 10 yeara ago.Yeah,I know he loved performing but I think a person's health should be their priority, especially as we age. It's a terribe thought that,in order to entertain us,he had to deal with so much pain.

I'm waiting to find out what happened to him before I make a decision about the statement. At the time I thought it was a very odd thing to say and I was a little offended and taken aback because prayers are never wasted.

Nah, there was a rumor that he mumbled words to that effect to a Walgreens employee. I didn't believe it because the same person said she was told by a friend that the medication she gave him was for AIDS.

I'm pretty sure a pharmacy assistant wouldn't have had to ask someone else about that or at the very least would have asked the actual pharmacist they were working with.

I put a TON of faith in the rumored tales told by "supposed Walmart salespeople."

Sigh...

ok, I am a total newbie here and recent admirer of P...very sad about his death. Here is my take on this statement.

I would think that anyone who receives a "save" shot from a hospital would know that they are deep &^%$ and have a serious serious health problem. Prince, having just received emergency treatment a couple of days before, probably would be in discussions (and under advisement of the hospital) with his nearest family/staff/friends regarding getting treatment and receiving it asap. His statement to "wait a few days" I think refers to his going into treatment, which would be no easy path, on so many levels, physically and mentally, with all in the news.....very hard for such a private person.

That being said, the question I have is how and why was someone that ill left alone unless perhaps he planned it that way? He had to know that the Dr's were coming the next morning.....did he overtreat himself knowing that this was the last time before entering rehab?

God bless him, I read later that he was getting increasingly agitated. Chronic pain will do that. I get like that when my back flares up.

I imagine a lot of people we're calling trying to check on him, media in his face, maybe was embarrassed, a bit annoyed. We all get those moments and he was polite all things considered.

He had it worse than I do because when I'm in pain I can pretty much rest whenever I want without having to worry about making payroll, the media, disgruntled fams, familly, Paisley Park overhead costs, etc, etc.

If I had all of that to deal with I'd be a damn dragon lady. All things considered I ain't mad at him.

He had to develop a hard outer shell or the business would have eaten him alive a long time ago but he was actually a deeply caring man as the world is now finding out.

It was a cover-up. Prince thought he was the ulimate player/pimp etc. 'I cannot be played. If you try to play me, you play yourself'. He was trying to cover his ass. He didn't want anyone to suspect he liked H. The emergency landing made national news and his shit was awfuly close to being exposed. Sadly it all caught up with him anyway.

H?

Live performances was how he made a living. Without it he would probably haveto sell Paisley Park and get used to a totally different life style.

He knew he was going into rehab and it would be difficult. I think that's what I was. This would be huge for anyone let alone a control free like Prince. To hand himself over to others.

I also think this is ironically why I think he died. When you're going on a diet tomorrow you're more likely to consume more the day before. The fear of letting go.

Maybe news of Duran Duran's tribute had actually filtered through to him?

He could have just been referring to the lyrics. I don't know.

Maybe he was just feeling really really bad. neutral
