I can't imagine the D+P and Symbol albums without Tony M's input.

To each their own of course. All I'll say is I've edited both albums (to my liking) and I can now absolutely enjoy both all the way through. Jughead even contributes when it's a :59 sec segue that centers around P's rap.

If anyone spends hours editing and removing them must be a hater of Tony M...

Nothing against Tony. I like him in Gett Off. I even keep bits of him when he's augmenting P, such as in the background chorus of Sacrifice of Victor. But when he's the focus, then no, he weighs the song down.

Not unemployed either! whew

Tony M. is only one of D&P's and prince's major problems.

How do you know what was on Prince's mind when he wrote a song? He may have had plans to include a rapper on D&P from day one. After all, Tony was already featured on the NPG maxi single. And I was also thinking about Picasso, but in another way: imagine buying a Picasso painting and then saying: I don't like that part in the upper right corner, you know, I'll just cut it off. Yeah, the painting is much better now! [Edited 5/26/16 9:02am]

But Picasso didn't have some dumb shit crapping all over his work, did he?

.

I do NOT like her. She SCARES the crap outta me. Any who. Don't artist make several versions b4 releasing. SOME of the rap featured in P's music is OK. P always gave others a chance to show their talent.

hmmm I don't think I could ever "remove" things from an album.I want to hear the artists' vision and listen to the album the way it was intended to sound.

Finally someone who gets it.

There's nothing wrong with editing an album... at the end of the day, you still have the original if you want to hear the artists vision, its not like you have obliterated the original out of existence. Plus, Prince even did it himself with Rave Un2 and Rave In2.

I agree.

I never understood all the hate he receive here, givin the fact that it was P choice to include his contributions to the 2 album (and also "Goldnigga" and other single tracks).

And to be honest, strictly to "My Name Is Prince" (the song) I prefer Tony M. vocals to P vocals. lol

Exacty. And if someone doesn't like to edit an album, they should never create a playlist, and always listen to any record front to back, all in one setting. To do otherwise is a dismissal of the artist's vision of a full record. Oh, and never add salt to any dish you order in a restaurant. Your addition to t he dish is now how the cook wanted it to be enjoyed.

See how illogical that sounds? Everyone in the damn world has a playlist on their iPod or iPhone. If someone happens to edit out Tony M.'s proverbial shitting on otherwise strong songs - so be it.

I vaguely remember hearing about this on the org a few years ago. As a MASSIVE fan of this album (in spite of Tony M's contributions), I would love to hear this. Imagine Love 2 The 9's without that God-awful Tony M/Carmen Electra dialogue in the middle? So much better.

Am I correct in recalling that such a version exists (albeit fanmade)?

Lord ,I wish I could find a version without Tony M and who ever that female voice is. Love 2 The 9's is one of my favorites off that album along with Damn U, Sweet Baby,Morning Papers,And God Created Woman.
