rose i no longer look for funky clothes for the next paisley park party sad

...At least you got to go to them!!!! wink biggrin

I ...cannot say the same. sad sad sad And in fact, the 3 concerts that were feasibly within my reach -although, to be fair, the Piano and a Microphone ones were pretty hard to get tickets to- I only got to see Prince the ONCE.

And eventhough I did get to go to the afterparty -I lucked out as it was one of the after parties where he danced for 5 minutes and then left.

....So, I think you should count your lucky stars!!!

So many missed out. And even if a portion, maybe even a good portion, of the reason for missing out was because of being slow on the uptake -still sucks to realise all too late, that one SHOULD have paid more attention. (even if I do live in Australia and have struggled financially for a long time, I still could have put my self on the NPG and 3121 website lists and found out in good time whenever a concert was due to arrive ...as opposed to too late.)

I love the vegetarian conversions (been either vegan or veggie since 16 - and the whole family are now too (husband kids and parents)).

As for lifestyle changes, all I seem to do is look at the photos and comments on here whilst his music plays in the background (I am wondering how long the family will be patient with this mood).

This is a really nice thread. Glad I clicked on it. Well, I can remember writing a few things recently and it really felt like something was "different"....When I went back and read it and looked at certain things I could see the results of what felt so different in my heart as I was writing it. It's as if his words somehow in my heart and mind were flowing. I think that gave me a lot of peace. The past few years have been really tough but the worst of it was probably the end of last year going into the beginning of this year. But, his music and his passing have solidified certain beliefs that I have about the importance of walking into your destiny and never settling for second best. That song "Way Back Home" really gets deep within my soul because of how my life was when that song was released and then hearing it now because the lyrics are related to how I feel and have felt for most of my life. I never wanted a typical life, scripted roles, none of that.....and it's because of that I've been able to experience certain things that brought me close to my destiny. Prince will never be forgotten and I'll love him for eternity.

This is exactely what I have felt since Prince has left this world.

You should see the state of my house and how the dust has been settling on my carpet wink I used to be a very organised person and loved everything to be a certain way, and now i just don't care anymore. There has been a shift in my priorities and now music is my only source of joy and inspiration because it keeps me connected with Prince and I don't want to lose that connection. I don't want closure, I want what he started to continue, and my life to be a reflection of the music and vision that he has taken the time to share with us. I hope a renewed inspiration will come to you soon.

I really like the overall positivity of this thread given the dire circumstances. good to see so many people getting their creative juices going or prioritizing in other meaningful ways

.

for me things have been a bit different but this is due to me suffering from cyclothymia that wanders into bipolar type 2 territory when dealing with unexpected emotional issues. fortunately the mess that was the first three weeks (extreme money spending - I'm in serious debt over this right now ; another bout of hypersexuality and other things I won't dive into right now) has all but gone now and I'm happy to report I have been feeling okay for the past week. I never thought anything related to our favorite artist would shake up my world in this way

.

visiting the org has been a tremendous help, thanks again for all of these hopeful stories. glad to hear a lot of peope are able to deal with their emotions in a positive meaningful way. wishing you all well.

.

and to those who are having a hard time over this one month in : all the best to you, I'm keeping you in my thoughts and hoping for the best

Nothing artistically but I've become more fearless and more inspired to be myself, no matter the judgment. Prince lived his life the way he wanted, even if he was criticized and I want to do the same.

Have you tried the Linda McCartney "pulled pork" soya burgers?

They're inexplicably meaty. Well, they taste meaty if you put them on a bun with a cheese slice and a heavy splodge of BBQ sauce.

Cover anything with BBQ sauce and it tastes like it could be meat. Lego covered in BBQ sauce probably tastes like meat. lol

That's beautiful. You know, some people think Prince didn't leave anything behind because he didn't have living biological heirs but we're all still on this Earth and keeping his legacy alive. How many people are born with such a rare gift that touches so many millions of souls for such a long period of time and whose creativity will outlive all of us? You're lucky to have a nice job but you're blessed to live your life in what the universe designed especially for you as a higher calling. Prince has that and the rest of us should only be so lucky....

Trolls be gone!

I have adopted 14 pet baby chicks. They are really happy and amazing. There's this rare breed from Switzerland I'm trying to rehab because there's only 1,000 left and less than 7 breeders

The species is majestic and looks like the kind. you'd see in the cartoons. I think one is a rooster. If so I'll name him Monaco.

9 for sure are hens.

I've never had animals before.

I'm building them big ass house Henny Hotel smile it's very fancy. We're thinking to free range until it becomes unsafe.

I started with 9 but kept adding more since I needed to see more cuteness.

Yesterday I brought home 3 blue swedish ducklings. They are sharing space with my week old golden chicks.

Ahhh. I'm coming up with some good names for them too. I'll call the lead hen Queenie and the first to lay Henrietta. I'm naming them in the order that I can tell them apart. For the things they do.
No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ prince. He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take prince away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

Violectrica, biggrin That's so sweet. I hope they live the happy life they deserve. Sounds like they're in good hands - unlike the many other unfortunate chicks on this planet.

p.s. I lost three stone (42 lbs) over 18 months, partly by no longer eating red meat. My weight goes up and down now & again, but only by a few pounds around the holidays.

I looked ten years older, ten years ago.

You won't regret it.

Actually, yes I am reassesing my whole life direction. Since his passing I quit a part time job that I HATED with every fiber in my being and now am a stay at home mom with my son, at least for the summer. I took the part time job because I thought it would be a good introduction into a field I was considering and I realised how much I HATED it. Since Prince passing I have reevaluated my direction and am revamping my goals. Prince did what he loved and was true to himself, I felt like I was going in a direction that wasn't really me and I was forcing myself to conform to what others would want me to be.....I said screw it and plan on going for my Master's in Psychology since that was what I was always passionate about anyway. Since Prince passed my life direction has actually changed a lot I just hope it is the right choice in the long run. Prince followed his heart and his passions and that inspires me.

I read this quote today from Ralph Waldo Emerson and it reminded to live like Prince

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

Thank you for the inspirational quote. I am reading a book right now called "The Great Work of Your Life" it is heavily based on Buddhism and it is all about finding your calling. I really need to listen to my heart. It sucks when you feel like you are stuck in "inaction". Prince always took action in his life and admire his bravery.

Prince did put a lot of "life" into his life but a little inaction is Ok too. Always follow your heart.

I am no longer sweating the small stuff.

And as Mark Twain said "

“Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like its heaven on earth.”

I too have noticed a change in my life since his passing. I stopped writing music and tabled all projects since the group I was with disbanded in 2007. These past couple of weeks, I've gone back to find the songs I never recorded, and I intend to get back in the studio now. I guess I've come to the realization that I don't want Prince's influence on my life to go to waste!

Death can sometimes, bring forgiveness. Two friends of mine (who are also fans, just not as much me) had had a falling out last summer with me and I didn't think think it was repairable. I've known them both for over 20 years. I get a call a couple weeks ago from one of them in tears saying we need to make up, life is too short. So all 3 of us got together, made up, drank and danced and cried. All because of Prince.

well, my emotions have been kind of like difficult to describe.

seems i'm on a quest to see the color of purple when i'm out driving in my car. i purposely drive through residential neighborhoods off the main thoroughfare hoping to see purple flowers in some of the yards.

it helps me (i don't know why).

dove

then a few days ago i started feeling like that one scene in the movie 'forest gump' where forest puts on the (gifted) running shoes and begins to run across country. well remember when all those people joined forest in his run? remember when after several days forest just stops and all the following runners start saying, "well what are we going to do now?"

Related image

well that's how i've been feeling intermittingly.

"well what am i going to do now since (my) Prince is gone.

dove

only difference is i felt empowered to actually follow the musical genius of Prince and the musical direction of where he had led his music admirers to.
