Prince + Opioids = Celibacy?

Has anyone noted that the dates for Prince's celibacy claims match up to when his hip pain supposedly came to a head in 2009? Supposedly at his time of death he had been celibate for eight years.

.

Prince strikes me as a man who would fashion a large narrative to fit his circumstances. In other words, if he suddenly couldn't 'get it up', it wouldn't be a medical issue or age, it would be a call from God himself that he should keep it in his pants. I think this is just how he rolled. I would also suspect he wouldn't keep trying and failing... if he had issues, he would just stop doing it.

.

If Prince was taking heavy duty painkillers from 2009 or just before, suddenly we have a man now in his 50's, who doesn't eat the type of foods that keep your pecker up, now (probably) taking the kind of meds that can lead to erectile problems. I know a lot of us think of Prince as the ultimate male who would still be able to go all night at 80, but a) he probably wasn't in great health and b) appears to have given up on his sex life just as pain killers may have become a huge part of his life.

.

Hip pain alone, of course, could lead to a period of abstinence. But from live performances during this period, the moves were still there when he needed them.

.

Also, if the celibacy stories are NOT true, but the painkiller stories almost certainly are, this could also open up the possibility that the killer mix was some form of viagra. But I'm not buying that either. For one thing, the two probable overdoses happened when a) he was on a plane and b) home alone.

.

So basically, I'm just putting it out there that the forming narrative of Prince becoming hooked on painkillers from around 2009 has another bit of circumstantial evidence to add to it.

I don't know how the medication ties in with the celibacy thing, but being a JW definitely would. Unless he was being a naughty JW, he isn't supposed to be doing the deed unless he's married.

Have you noticed you don't know anything and yet here you are feeling the need to speculate on if he could still "get it up"?

Forget Gene Simmons, some Prince fans beat him by a mile or two in the crassness of their comments.

I didn't meant that. More that regardless of any medication, as we still don't have 100% confirmation, the fact that he was a JW should have meant being celibate.

Can a Prince fan really be this sensitive? Or after everything we've heard, still sound like they think opioids will be found to have nothing to do with it? And that he died of a broken heart about Vanity?

Did you complain why I was discussing the lack of a will days before this was confirmed? Or was that OK? Coz that came from the same source everything else has before it was 'news'.

Could you come into a message board during the month when most of the speculatin' is gonna get done just to shake your head at it? You saw the '?' in the thread title, right? Speculation is natural. And I'm basing all of mine on the one source who seems reliable and not, as has been suggested elsewhere, that he swore off sex so as not to give his partners fatal diseases.

Opioids leading to ompotence is a known fact. If you find the very mention of that hurtful, where were you when Prince claimed mass violence was being caused by a chemical conspiracy? I mean that's a million times more devastating, hate-filled and, to be charitable, 'speculative'. Anyway, link me to your outrage.

Opioids lead to impotence a lot of the time. Certainly they are way more likely to reach that point before killing you. It's not Mulder and Scully.

Yes, I think his JW beliefs were a huge factor too. In so far as he may have rushed into a second marriage, but didn't have to rush into a third, to stay within the rules.

I apologize for my snarkiness in advance, but I think that the dying from Vanity broken heart thing is absolutely ridiculous! This man had broken up with Vanity many years before, and had countless women since then, even marrying twice, not exactly someone that would still be pinning over a lost love, don't you think? rolleyes If Prince was that in love with Vanity and still wanted her, I'm sure that he would have done something to get back with her, and he didn't! Now, I'm sure that her dying hurt him in some way, but I don't think that he was so grief stricken that it killed him! If he was able to go on after his own son passed, why not when Vanity passed? I know that people are just trying to figure out why he passed, but this Vanity thing is silly! Prince had tons of women, many I'm sure that he loved or thought he loved just as much as Vanity, and if it's one thing that we know about Prince, it's that the man didn't dwell on one thing for long, and was on to the next thing with a quickness. Even band members that he had, many that he was close to, once he got rid of them, he didn't look back......that was just how he was, and that included the many past loves of his life.

That doesn't apply to every user and even if it did, this thread is still a gross over-reach.

---- We are not stupid we all know P was in an out patient program to get off the pills so it is possible that he was dealing with withdrawal issues which can kill you. Most people do not die from overdosing on the meds it is the withdrawal and the combination of other drugs that take people out. We already know that his local doctor gave him two other Rx that were not pain meds he could have simply mixed everything together. The point is we will know nothing until the autopsy comes back for you to go off on his sex is just wacky and unfounded.

What are your sources for this? The source for the 'out-patient' program story doesn't claim Prince was suffering withdrawal, was still using the original painkillers, claims he had started no program, nor confirms that Prince knew anything about it in advance. The door was left open for this to have happened behind his back by a concerned party. This party correctly believed Prince was close to death. Given his behaviour, we have to consider that Prince may not have shared this view.

When he came out celibate it just thought it was super convenient with turning 50 and when there's a natural dip in libido/testosterone. I was like haha Prince of course when you're young you go crazy and now that you're kinda over it sexually you're celibate. OK.

And chastity is different than celibate. Chaste people can date in a chaste way. Celibate people aren't supposed to entertain the thought of marriage.

So for example when I was widowed I was chaste, not celibate. Considering remarriage.
