I chose the Parade LP. I wasn't and am still not in the mood for his party songs.

I went to that album too. Although it was a few days before I actually played it. I listened to Amy Winehouses album a lot instead, I couldn't face listening to Prince. after parade I didn't stop and listened to different albums for about 5 hours. Lotusflower is getting a load of plays the last few days.

I played Joy In Repetition, Power Fantastic and Sometimes It Snows, these are my favourite songs and I cried a lot, which I felt was a good thing.

When I heard the news I wasn't near anything capable of playing music. As I drove home in stunned silence it dawned on me that some station may be talking about it or doing a tribute. I turned on the radio and literally the first thing I heard were the opening chords of Purple Rain. It had been about 3 hours since I'd heard the news and hearing those chords slammed home the fact that he was gone. I sat in the car and cried.

Wet Dream's Cousin. confused

I intended to put the Computer Blue extended version, but accidentally clicked that one and thought, "what the hell, maybe it was meant to be this way".

Took out my bootleg of his SNL appearances and watched "Party Up."

I then had to watch "Electric Chair."

Better to see video than put on a record. He was alive again when I watched those two.

Empty Room.
Don't know if there's a thread on where we were when we first heard the news, but I was atually in a beautiful park all alone, waiting for my daughter's pratice to end, when i got a message from a friend. It simply said: "Prince?!" And I immediately thought that she must have heard about the plane incident and that perhaps there was a silly rumour going around about his death. So I shrugged it off. I got another message from another friend that said: "I'm so sorry. Be strong". My heart just sank. I checked online and there it was. I remember sitting down on a bench and staring at the phone for a long time, not understanding what was going on. All i could hear was the wind on the trees above me and my own breath: I was slowly blowing out air, like I was soothing my own body? Then my mother called and all it took was hearing her say "I'm so sorry, honey". I immediately broke down.

I have sadly been avoiding the music, the closest I got was Glamorous Life Live, 4 days after. Actually, when I was out at a coffee shop the other day Raspberry Beret came on over the radio... it was the first time in my life that I did not want to hear Prince, which makes me so sad but I am useless when I hear his voice. Realizing this, I pushed myself to go to a public tribute yesterday where 2000 of us organized to sing When Doves Cry... it was amazingly therapeutic, mind you I was crying the whole time but I needed that.

'Sometimes it Snows in April' was my first immediate choice, immediately followed by "The Love We Make".

I remember freaking out a little over the idea of having to make the decision of what to put on first, and wondering WHEN I'd be ok to do so.

The day the news broke was an absolute blur, but I think I found myself online that night and finding a live performance of Sometimes it Snows in April.

Then the next day arrived, and thankfully the current were doing their 26 hours of A-W and I HAD to tune in, had to get back in there and listen without having to decide on which record or song it would be...I tuned in at Chelsea Rodgers. I can't thank them enough for doing that stream, it was perfect.

Not a song as such, but I watched a recording of the birthday concert TV broadcast from the Parade tour. Wanted to see him, not just hear him. Had to stop it as I was crying too much.

I just bought physical copies of his last three albums even though I have the digital already. They came in the mail today. I'm going to play all three tomorrow; AOA will be the hardest. I've listened to very little of hos music since he passed. Today I played Still Would Stand All Time. He looked ethereal in the video... angel

I honestly can't remember what the song was. I think it was Take Me With you. It was stuck in my head all morning before I heard the news. It's one of my favorite songs but when I listened to it at my office while I heard the new I just sat at my desk in stunned silence. Not hearing any of the lyrics or even realizing where I was.
How beautiful do the words have 2 be
Before they conquer every heart?
How will U know if I'm even in the right key
If U make me stop before I start?

I listened to The Purple Rain soundtrack then a variety of songs from Little Red Corvette to Sometimes it Snows in April. That night VH1 was playing some videos so I watched them with my grandkids and as I was flipping the channels getting ready for bed Purple Rain was on and I watched it. I have been playing his music non stop in my car and at work. As I said in another post his death touched my soul. He was a big part of my teen years and as it was with Michael Jackson's death, a part of me died with Prince.
