I bought my copy in the US, with danish fees and taxes the price was twice as high as usual, very expenssive.

I still havent listened to the cd becauce I can't stand this album, I had a mp3 copy already.

for some reason, I had to own it even its so crappy.... Baltimore and RnRLa big yuck, and the rest is rather awful as well.

I thought you collapsed and went into a coma from a lack of remasters already but here you are with two copies of something you can't stand.

But Prince is the crazy one, right?

Somebody tell me again how Prince has $300,000,000 dollars, yet he's reduced to touring with nothing but a sampler and selling whack wannabe-jazz albums for chump change out the back of PAISLEY PARK and working for a former crack dealing rapper, who fosho don't know anything about 'real music by real musicians'. I imagine Jay does this as a favor to Beyonce, who is on some type of 'I'm the new MJ' tip, so by extension I suppose that also means she's obliged to throw Prince a bone every now and then to feel like she is an 80's icon too.

AS A LONGTIME PRINCE FAN I AM COMPLETELY HUMILIATED AND EMBARRASSED BY PRINCE'S RECENT ACTIONS in much the same way Donald Trump's supporters ran for the hills when he started talking crazy about abortion laws that have nothing to do with the election.

GETTING PISS-AND-RUN DISTRIBUTED is pointless because it's a shit album that in no way sounds like classic Prince. WHAT-AN-AŽZ!

You're humiliated and embarrassed by the actions of an entertainer who doesn't know you from a can of paint? Alrighty then.

How many other people do you live through? Wouldn't it be simpler to just be disappointed?

This is all pathetic - everything to do with the distribution and promotion of his new music is absolutely awful. I paid 18 bloody pounds for the CD. He's just a moron when it comes to selling his new music. I love the CD, but I should have been able to buy it 4 months ago for ten pounds!

Thanks for making very valid points without going into crisis mode about it. lol

I said months ago that I won't buy the cd unless and until he makes it accessible at a reasonable price and I haven't.

You're obviously trying to break Violet's record of over mentioning to death how much you dislike an album. Get over the 'bum, there's plenty of fish in the sea.

^ and you keep writing the above message, how silly I am.. right!

I will continue to write whenever I love some Prince albums, and also when I hate some..

Try and live with that, ok???????? Its always my honest opinion you get.

I am not Kccooool, I am not saying Prince is making "a masterpiece" all and every the time.

imo, HNR Phase 2 = barf

So you needed two copies to figure that out? I blame it on your lack of oxygen brought on by your hyperventilating over those remasters. lol

Wow, you are raging with intense jealousy. evillol This post makes Prince "Da Man!" Look how he got grown men talking bout him. Prince you are everything! cool THe piano and a mic tour is a hit, he made money. I saw no news of shows selling short. Who says he "works for" Jay Z. Where do you get that? And why be humiliated and embarrassed about someone who does not know you and from news nobody outside the Org cares about? lol

why should I care about you, I have no idea about who you are... wink

It is true..... I am disappointed that Prince broke his promise about the PR remaster. Thanks for the reminder. smile

My reason to buy this awful Phase 2 on Cd is I am a collector, do you love all and every item in your own Prince-collection...?

I can tell, I -also- own 1999 the new master and that is so awful as well, but I own it for "collecting reasons"..

I'm 25 and I think it's a good album. Baltimore, RnR Affair and Screwdriver are songs that if I never heard again, it wouldn't bother me but the rest of the album is top class and better than anything he's done in years. In my opinion.

Prince has always been a cheap mofo. Things only get big when he is backed by a major contract, otherwise he is a "less is more" kind of artist. Which would make him perfect for a bandcamp-like distribution deal.
Not getting the Trump reference though.

I mean of course, you could have got a Tidal subscription, but even so, there should be more than one way to hear an album.

Nobody wants to jump through hoops to get an album, they want to be able to get it through either digital means via itunes or something, or physical means from a brick and mortar store.

I bought mine on iTunes back in December, it's been available there for ages.

I, for one, am pleased to see the wider distribution. Phase Two is an outstanding record, Groovy Potential and Black Muse in particular are stellar. As a Prince fan since about 1982, and an engineer, I have both the background, and the intellect, to understand what great Prince music sounds like... wink

Yup like I said... Up there in age... lol lol lol

I often wonder what i'll think of the likes of this kinda album when I'm up there with Prince in age as well. I don't mind HitnRun2, it's far from his best but has enough decent moments for me. My only real issue is how many of the tracks i'd already had for years.

Well, fans have already had this digitally for 5 months and physically since Jan/Feb. So it's probably correct to surmise that the hardcore fanbase all have this by now.

So this release is targeted at casual fans and the general public. If that's the case, a little bit of promotion would go far.

IMO, with Republic handling the distribution, a good idea would have been a triple CD set with Phase 1, Phase 2, and either a new Phase 3 record or a recording of one of the Piano & A Microphone shows. Shoot a music video for a track on each record (Ain't About To Stop, Revelation, and a video from Sydney Opera House), hire a PR company, and sell the whole set for $15.

I just struggle to understand the point of teaming up with a major for distribution unless there's some promotion involved on their end. I've released enough records through majors to know that without that, you might as well just stick with an indie release that you can control the parameters of, anyway.

Agree, my only issue is the old tracks and Baltimore but it is a good Prince album IMO.

.

The age theory isn't really a good one. Phase 1 sounded a lot like current chart music so does that mean young people will like it and it's good? Likewise, Parade and ATWIAD sound sophisticated and mature so does that make them not good cuz older people will like it

.

And the whole distribution and sales figures thing - who gives a shit. Does that detract any enjoyment you may get from it.

.

I guess feeluup is happy now a distribution deal has been made after telling us once or twice it would never happen wink

It's not a bad album, but it's not great. In my opinion, it's very bland... A few good songs, REVELATION, LOOKA AT ME, LOOK AT U... Other than that it lacks energy...

About distribution, I never said I didn't want the album to get distributed, I simply made a thread reporting how it couldn't get a major label distribution when Phase 2 was released...
