The Piano & Microphone tour soundboard so far could make Tidal MILLIONS!

Oh yeah sure, the guy that can't get more than a couple thousand views on YouTube is going to sell millions.

--- What logic are using? If Prince put out a new album tommorow with major label promotion and big stadium tour he could sell 50k to 1 million. He just sold out a 20k arena with crazy high prices just playing the piano. Who cares about how many people are looking at a video or listening without paying for anything. YouTube views are not a measure of popularity having people actually pull money out of their pockets is a better measure.

I think you make a great point. Actually paying for a product is a good indicator of Prince's continued success. To perform such a stripped-down concert experience and have it sell out almost instantly is impressive whatever way you look at it. Your point is rather like newspapers who would, quite understandly, rather have less paying subscribers through a paywall than a lot of viewers all reading for free.

I think firstly it is intersting how many people are happy to have large amounts of bootlegs but find it morally outrageous to support the artist for a track offered for sale.

.

Fair price for fair content. €3 for a single track is robbery.

.

Secondly, whether or not Prince releases a full Piano & Microphone concert album is it highly unlikely any artist would do that until the actual tour has completed. Releasing the album now would clearly impact future sales and is often meant as a way for fans who couldn't attend the shows or those who wish to have the memory of the shows captured. Whether a cd/video is released is entirely up to Prince although I was confident a London 02 Video Full concert might be released, that would have been very popular.

.

Oh pur-lease, there are artists who sell you a recording of the gig mere MINUTES after it has finished. Wanna know what concert videos do? Show people who didn't go to the concert how great it was and encourage them to spend money on tickets the next time.

but are there indie artists who can sell concert numbers like himin mere minutes..thats what matters

If only Prince had listened to Bart these last 20 years. He would have been successful, instead of a loser that played the Super Bowl; was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; owns his own recording studio; etc. etc. etc.

It's true, last I heard Prince was homeless and reduced to living in some sort of 'Park'. Real shame wink

There are truly few artists who have both the control and the success that Prince has acheived.

Purchased without hesitation. Any chance I get to pay the artist for live recordings, I'll jump!

Now if only would consider beating the bootlegers at their own game....

I much prefer a soundboard version than any bootleg audience version of a live performance - this is actually a great version - he messes up a line and he could of got audience participation with the 'Love Me' bit. but a solid version with no stupid pauses and unnessasary re-arrangnments a la the jazz versions he did of his stuff a while back (they were bad except LRC). makes me want to go to a show if he comes to London, strange because the bootleg stuff was actually putting me off!

Patehtic numbers.

Really? A very small percentage of videos on Youtube reach a million views and you are stating that nearly 6 million views for a Prince video taken from a VHS Twenty Five years ago is 'pathetic'. I am confused, do you want Prince to be much more prominent and worry about chart positions as he was 35 years ago or do you want Prince to retire?

.

"a small percentage" -- yes, because there's a fuckload of videos on there. Not that there are also videos with over a billion views. The latest GoT trailer has 20+ million views after three days.

.

The rest of your post is just stuff you made up, I never said anything like that. I was talking about the idiotic claims of Prince selling millions of this one live track vs. the pathetic viewing figures of his free videos.

Neither of those events are recent and none of them are due to things he's done post-1980s.

.

Know what is recent? Him not finding a distributor for his latest masterpieces. Him selling a couple thousand copies of a shite album.

.

I guarantee you: Prince is making a fraction of what he would be making if he had followed the advice of plenty of his fans. Bowie's fortune is estimated at $100 million, I guarantee you Prince is nowhere near that and to a large degree that's due to his idiotic business decisions.

If my aunt had doors she'd be a closet.

.

Remind me: how many did AOA sell? And who didn't promote said album after bitching about it for weeks?

.

He just sold out a 20k arena with crazy high prices just playing the piano. Who cares about how many people are looking at a video or listening without paying for anything. YouTube views are not a measure of popularity having people actually pull money out of their pockets is a better measure.

.

Oh please, those are cheap techniques: create scarcity, feed the "event" culture,...

.

Let's see him release an album, properly promote it, tour it (and actually tour it, i.e. playing the songs from that album). But he doesn't do that, now does he? Why not? Oh lemme see, because he can't find a sucker who'll fund such an enterprise because he's burned so many bridges before?

Where to begin. Please take a seat, this may change everything for you and relieve a great deal of the concern you appear to be having for Prince's financial situation. Prince is a Multi-Millionaire. A Multi-Millionaire.

The very fact that he could have made more money but is choosing to something else is actually a compliment. Prince has had very little true financial concerns since he was about 20. I genuinely don't know what you think is going to happen. Prince on welfare? Prince Homeless? I love how you take the Bowie estimated figure but ignore Prince's estimated figure which is $300Million http://www.therichest.com...net-worth/

This may come as a shock to you but Prince is in charge of his own business. He could have decided in 1993 not to release another song. Prince has high levels of control over his business, does what he loves is wealthy and celebrated. One Private party could pull in millions. It's all fine. Really.

I love this release. I guess what logic I don't understand is yes I agree Prince gets less views on YouTube than many currently popular new artists but obviously only a few people are probably listening to the abundance of audience recordings. So the release makes sense to me. Why not release something.
As for Prince's popularity as a live act. Sells every ticket and expensive tix.
This release is just fine. I hope he releases more of these Prince and a piano recordings. If you have a problem with a release as beautiful as this it's time you got laid even if you have to pay for it. People pissed about a Prince and piano recording release? Really?? If some people can't get laid I'm sorry Prince.org can't help you.
What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Put a stop by sharing one song from one concert?

The look and feel of Tidal is great but functionality isn't optimal yet. I couldn't download or buy but maybe it's only available in the US. Will have to wait for the streaming next week.

Yes, and about coming to Paisley Park for concerts, as a reaction to someone who said that it would be expensive: "As expensive 4 artist. Most barely break even'.
