bigbrother	Hot Thing or U Got The Look? If Sign O The Times were a single album and you had to drop either Hot Thing or U Got The Look, which would you save and why? I'd keep Hot Thing - especially the extended version - as Sheena Easton's contribution wears a bit thin on repeated plays. I also love the keyboard hook and bass riff in the song.

SoulAlive	I would drop "Hot Thing".I like the music but the lyrics aren't very good.

Tough call! Hot Thing is more interesting to me personally, but I recognize that U Got the Look is a 'better' song. I can't answer this.

But I will say that I don't much like either of the 12" versions of Hot Thing. For me, it was the first time a Prince b-side didn't captivate.

Because of the lyrics, U Got the Look. There are so many classic lines on it. I'm not a big fan of it musically, but I find myself enjoying it anyway and singing along.

Wolfie87	Hot Thing all the way. That version from Way out West in Sweden 2011 is brutal. Also, this track is one of the reasons SOTT is what it is. The track is wierd, funky, sexy, nasty and so not 1987 at the time. The performance from the concert movie will make you move your body or suggest intercourse right away. "A hot sticky thang!"

I agree, UGTL is good, maybe a bit "noicy" - but it's good (excellent) noice.. smile

SoulAlive	The first time I heard U Got The Look,I knew that it was gonna be a major hit single.The song is insanely catchy and addictive.....a totally 80s song! It has a strong chorus. By comparison,Hot Thing feels like a lazy throwaway.The lyrics are what you would have expected from Rick James at that point..,."barely 21..,,looking for big fun".
