Prince 'playing DJ' for a few mins with tunes that are Highly Likely to pump up the crowd at a Prince show. nothing more nothing less..harmless

.

He did that in 2007.

Back then it was harmless or perhaps even OK.

But now!

It is stale.

Lame

Lazy.

If you got so many hits, PLAY THEM.

Or simply just ignore them as there is plenty of other stellar stuff he can play.

Some songs just don't translate well, at all, to a live arrangement. It's also a way to give the band a break. When they're playing, they're playing pretty intense arrangements. Allows a chance for them...and him, to regroup a little. I saw a clip of Hot Thing as a sampler....sampler or not...that shit was FIRE.

We feel the same.

I think MANY deep fans forget that Prince is performing for new fans, old fans, everyone..

Im sure he wishes everyone loved the show but i'm sure he also knows you cant please everyone!

case in point.. I took my mother to see Prince and the sampler set was her favourite part because she Really enjoyed hearing him talk and Brag..act crazy.. loose.

She never realised he had such a great sense of humour ..

*the 10-15 min sampler set is fine with me. cool

Yes- the "Hot Thing" section was HOT!

Doesn't even compare to the amazing performance In the SOTT concert film- that was amazing energy with Cat and theven SOTT band- Particularly Eric Leeds--

but still-

the sound was awesome

^^I saw the Hit n' Run show, and I *still* have that "Hot Thing" vibe in my brain!!! I think that the sampler set is a nice little trip down memory lane--and even a little more extra funk when he puts slightly different keys over them, or a little tweaked rhythm-- with so little time to cover all of your favorite songs, even though we would all like to hear more live playing yes

calidope

Bring John Blackwell Jr. back, he's the best drummer he's ever had (with Sheila E of course!!)

That movie's performances are fake! just like the 1999 Rave special with Lenny Kravitz.
