AOA or HitnRun

AOA or HitnRun Phase 1, which do u prefer?

Personally my two favorite songs are on HitnRun, Hardrocklover and 1000 X's and O's... But I feel overall as an album AOA is more solid. I love U Know, everything else on AOA is just average, but it flows well together.

My choice is

AOA > HitnRun Phase 1

Imo HitNRun wins the race by a p***y hair.. cool

1. HitNRun 8.5/10

2. Art Official Age 8/10

Both are really good & solid: music

Too early to say, I've listened to AOA consistently since its release.

However, at the same point in their life I lean towards HNR mostly because there's nothing on it which I'm not enjoying. AOA had Brekfast Can Wait, which I hate, so that got removed and there were a few tacks which I grew a little tired of fairly quickly.

Will I still be listening to HNR one year later though?

AOA, simply because it sounds like a Prince album (and one I like).

It isn't perfect, but I think it is well made, a good mix of the Prince I know and the Prince I have to know again.

.

HITNRUN, as I said in other threads, sounds like an album of someone else with Prince adding some guest appareance here and there.

AOA has been growing on me as average as it is, it's just consistent as an concept album. There really no standout song on AOA imo but many average songs that actually makes it somewhat enjoyable...

People complain that it has a plastic sound, actually U Know is one of the most fresh sounding instrumentals he has released in a long long time...

AOA has grown on me a lot. HitnRun I started to lose interest already besides Hardrocklover and 1000 X's & O's.

."Time" and "Way Back Home" for me are two of the better songs he put out since "The Rainbow Children" era.

But I like more or less also the others, barring "FunknRoll (Remix)" that looking at now I would have seen better in HnR.

HNR

It starts weak but finishes strong. The last tracks are a solid set of new material which can get even better in Phase two and three. Why not? It colud be that turning point some of us are waiting since The Rainbow Children.

AOA was exciting at the beginning and has some very good songs, but then it's classic Prince in a good album = average for him

Ironically, I think "1000 Hugs" and "June" are the only tracks on HnR that have the quality of the "AOA" tracks.

AOA feels like a real Prince album because Josh basically went for coffee in the studio - per his own admission i that interview. I suspected as much. THe reason HItnRun pales in comparison is that Prince apparently let him be move involved. It was probably intended that way - I think that is why the 2 albums were released so closely

HnR because it's based on a clear vision.

AOA is neither fish nor flesh, the album in between, less consequent and with the usual hodgepodge of styles (too many slow songs) in order to appeal to everybody. I'm so tired of this concept.

Romeoblu

Art Official Age.

Art Official Age I rank as a 5 star album

HitnRun 4 star maybe 3.5. I really like it but it's so short and I don't like the jolting between the tracks, (Hopefully the CD version will solve this).

Now if there is a Phase two and it's a continuation of Phase One and is as good, the two together could possibly surpass or at least equal Art Official Age.

Well I like Hardrocklover more than any track on AOA, so i guess it's H&R. But that's not saying much.

I loved AOA instantly and still do, when I heard HR it was a say wha moment. I felt very confused and wondered what the hell was that, but it has got inside me and I actually think this album is a grower, to early to call!

They're now tied for me. At first I felt HitNRun was AOA's ugly cousin. Then little brother. But now they're twins. And now I'm all out of familial analogies.

Even if you are a blood clot, call yourself a Rita Bot. That has a bit more caché.
