I smell with the bits of info coming hours after hours about HitNRun. ...this year might be the worst year in term of musical quality from our lost genius from 80. ....definitely the quality of The Prince and the Revolution era is over for good....Mr Prince..u don't deserve girls like Wendy and Lisa nowadays anyway ...their evolution is much appreciable than yours these latter years!

That would explain why he doesn't want a track list out there before release. I still find it hard to believe that a new album cold comprise 6 remixes and just 4 new songs.

This should once and for all answer folks questions about Prince reuniting with The Revolution. He likes working with new collaborators and that's fine with me. What the Revolution did was great and legendary but part of what makes Prince is his search to work with new musicians that can inspire him to try new ideas and soak up their energy.

100% Correct. This puts this subject to bed.....forever.

Do you think there is some music that he couldn't release without them, like when he wanted to do the Roadhouse Garden album?

Not at all. Was that the reason RG wasn't released? You'll have to refresh my memory if it was. I don't believe Prince would leave himself in that position tbh, he has money and lawyers even if he did - so I don't think it would be a barrier to him.

.

I do believe his main motivator more than anything like I said is being a contrarian, so I would never rule out him doing/not doing something just because it's expected/not expected. He would do it for no other reason than it would give the finger to someone who said he wouldn't do it - and of course there was a silver lining ($).

It's like he is scared of working with people who would probably call him on shit. It's a shame because he is better when that happens. Every time I see that guitar work on While My Guitar Gently Weeps I can imagine that he stepped his game waaaaay up because of the company he was in.

nod Prince likes working with these young people because it's easier for him to control them.He doesn't like to work with people who are his 'equals' (same age group). This is also why he only dates young women. They're easier to control and manipulate smile

The Revolution made Prince a household name!

Never before or since has Prince been as perfectly 'framed' as he was

with-

Wendy on his Left and Brownmark to his right..

With Matt & Lisa on Keys

& Bobby Z crashing away whist hitting the dance steps on drums.

.

It was Black.. White.. Gay..Straight.. Weird..Fun.. Experimental... Middle America & The South of France... Always Passionate sounding..Urgent!

This is why i think the Revolution WILL ALWAYS MEAN SOMETHING!

I agree, it was culture shifting perfection. It will be anything but that if revived. It's best left in the perfection of the past smile

But hell yeah it they were perfection smile

So, an album of stuttering remixes of "Breakfast Can Wait" & "This Could Be Us" by your drummers' hubby is good;

Remasters with top shelf outtakes is bad.

Another unwanted album from a group that no one bought (3rdeyegirl)-good;

While calling working with The Revolution "pointless"-bad?

That afro is symbolic of when he lost the plot for good.

I can't wait to read the responses to HITNRUN next week. Gonna pop some popcorn

I just hope he doesnt work them to death while barely paying them. I have to think the cost of industry professionals is not cheap, and being grown ass people, wouldnt put up with any BS.

I like the idea of Prince giving young people an opportunity, as long as he doesnt exploit them.

1984 - Prince has a new album coming out next week. Asked to describe it, he says "It's much more hard rock, unlike anything I've done to this point. It features some very intricate chord progressions".

1987 - Prince has a new album coming out next week. Asked to describe it, he says, "It's a double album and it's completely unlike anything I've done before. There isn't much rock or pop on it but it does feature some influences I really like".

These could have perfectly described the lead-up to both "Purple Rain' and "Sign O' The Times" - almost universally acknowledged as his two best albums. And had there been an Org at that time, i am absolutely 100% sure there would have been numerous threads just like this one. "It's gonna suck!" say people who've not heard the album.

I got the impression that the album will feature a remix of Breakfast Can Wait as well.

Yeah, I got that feeling too. My heart sank as BCW is the only track I can't stand on AOA. I replaced it with Fallinlove2nite for the version I listen to.

The only thing keeping my hope up on that one is how different This Could B Us is and how much I like the new version, so I hold out some hope for BCW on Hitnrun.

Wonder if there's any other vault tracks, or just 1000 hugs & kisses. Would love to see the org meltdown if there's a Joshified Moonbeam Levels on there.

RIP sad

If that's the case, the “FALLINLOVE2NITE” desrves to be there also right after the pancake song and clouds.

I thought for one brief moment that the track list had leaked lol

But we know it opens with Million Dollar Show, which from the later 3rdeye boots we know starts with the for you sample, then a few other samples before going into the main song.

I'm really looking forward to hearing this album.

Does anybody in The Revolution play Pro Tools? Seriously. Anybody?? I mean if we have a contest, and give The Revolution some stems and, like, 1 hour... Will the track be funky?? I dunno.

Naw, nice try but none of these quotes are as bad as, "My drummer's husband is making remixes of songs I released last year. I love money!"*

Prince is so happy with Josh's work on this album, that he's tucking it away discreetly on TIDAL. Like a jumper badly knitted by a favourite aunt that you'll probably only wear around the house.

I actually like Josh's stuff he did on AOA, but it's like a back-handed compliment on Prince's part. 'Josh, I like what you do so you can pretty much produce my next album... But only as long as a limited number of people hear it though'.

Nice read!

Prince said:
Prince is most comfortable talking about other people’s music. Speaking directly to Josh and his assistant, he drops his appreciation for Kanye West’s “Gold Digger” (“the way he made something new with that sample was perfect”), Jill Scott’s “A Long Walk” (“every song on that first album was the truth”) and Kendrick’s Lamar’s whole To Pimp A Butterfly album (“He just has something he has to say. It’s pure. And with Thundercat on the album? Come on. You’re not taking ‘Alright’ off my playlist!”)

I like getting info in regards to Prince's personal playlists...they provide a degree of insight to a seasoned fans understanding.

But as for kanye west....B-L-E-H. #himnotmypresidentkweezy

Awesome pic. Good golly do I miss that era! And as far as HnR, I'm just hoping for at least one really slammin' track. Other than that, I have lowered expectations.

I'm going to have to disagree on that one.

Different times. Prince was in a different space at the time. Far beyond where he is now as a culture.

Yeah there would be someone who doesn't like an album, of course but Prince was golden then

This is truth, This period and I mean 1977-1986 + SOTT & Lovesexy

is foundation building. You just can't mess with a great foundation.
Prince fights against his own foundation. But it is what it is...

starkitty

the revolution is not nostalgia.

purple rain-->atwiad-->parade-->sott

there was no settling or formulaic sound. let me back up - I can't speak for the revolution in its entirety, but Wendy and Lisa pushed and inspired and produced amazing, new, fresh content. that's a triad that would keep going.
