Prince's version of Chocolate. . Most of LotusFlower. Always thought it was a bit overrated but got into it recently.

I always felt LotusFlower was a bit underrated. It's in my top 10. I feel it's stronger as a collective.

Background vocals. I've been really tuning into what Prince is singing in the background. Like, We Can Funk, he's killing with the high notes in my right ear.
What?

20Ten. It's a much better record than people give it credit for.

Check out the film 20 Feet From Stardom it is a documentary about background singers of the past and today. Judith Hill is even in it, it's on Netflix totally worth watching.

I could never take the place of your man.

Probaby have not listened to it in years purposely. Came on Devil's Night Radio (Best Dive Jukebox Radio) real loud the other day and I was like "Damn - this song has so many great things about it". Super hooky, guitar, cheeky lyrics etc. Probably need to go back and spin all of Sign again.

Several trax on that album would eventually suck me into a full listen...and the rest would disgust me soooo much, it'd go on hiatus for another couple years. This process finally happened enough so as to divorce me from it like a bad relationship. Said track being one of the offenders.

I made a one disc version of "Emancipation" a few weeks ago, and I think I've played this version of it more than I've played the full album since its release! I've always felt that as a whole, Emancipation was a mess, but that there was also a great album buried in there somewhere. I'm sure we'd all disagree on what songs to omit, but for me this is the best configuration of this album, with 2 extras thrown in:

1. Jam Of The Year

2. Right Back Here In My Arms

3. Somebody's Somebody

4. Saviour

5. Soul Sanctuary

6. Sex In The Summer

7.2morrow

8. Slave 2 The System(kinda ruined by the "Thompson's my last name" but still fits the album IMO)

9. My Computer

10. In This Bed I Scream

11. Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother/Wife

12. Style

13. One Of Us

14. The Love We Make

I never liked it for the longest time lol i guess i didn't like the intro very much. I thought it was cheesy, even for him. Now it doesn't bother me at all and I loves the song lol

That sounds like a beautiful feeling!

Love ... Thy Will Be Done, Prince version is my most recent rediscovery, too. I never got into it at all before. The beginning was too, um, monotone for me. And the title was kind of weird. It came up on my phone the other day, and I was very impressed. It crescendos very nicely. Lyrics are pretty cool. Vocals are excellent.

It came up live in concert in Rotterdam in 1998. That was a great surprise during an already great concert. He opened with Days of Wild, dammit! And within minutes Larry was on stage and they started jamming on Sly Stone tunes. Remember, back in 98, I saw this for the first time. I admit it has gotten predictable now, but then it was still "Fresh." (This was as close as you'd ever going to get to seeing Sly & the Family Stone live. Sly's own comeback concerts in 2007 paled in comparison.) After Larry left came the "Prince" section. So imagine you're there and you hear the intro of what you think is going to be One of Us (after all, both songs use the same backing track) and it just goes on and the audience start a "oh we ow" chant all by themselves. Then P does a guitar solo and then you hear Love... Thy Will Be Done. Awesome! Prince circa 1998 is rarely loved, but I loved his concerts back then! headbang

He played Chocolate live in the Melkweg in Amsterdam in 2011. And Colonized Mind from Lotusflower. So I guess my latest rediscovery is concert memories!

Nice and full. Anotherloverholenyohead - second verse - I want to sing the background vocals as much as his lead, and the end of Love 2 The 9s is rich.
