Websters gives the true meaning of the word 'pimp.' It's nothing glamourous or praise-worthy.

pimp
pimp/
noun
  1. 1.
a man who controls prostitutes and arranges clients for them, taking part of their earnings in return.
    synonyms: procurer, procuress; More

That is the definition of a STREET pimp! Eye only call prince a pimp, because he was good @ keeping the most beautiful women around him 4 his own pleasure. It takes a special skill to pull that off. Plus a lot of the women, actually 90% of them he christened into stars in their own right. So it's really a compliment I'm giving him, from a male perspective. Which I don't really expect U to understand. Men know where I'm coming from on this.

Oh God KCOOL, do you know how ridiculous that is? "Good @ keeping the most beautiful women around him 4 his own pleasure"......makes him sound like a complete user/abuser of women. The only men that know where you're coming from are those like you. Also, he certainly didn't keep women around for long did he, because sooner or later, it seems they wised up, grew up, or both, because he never seem to hang on to any of them for long, and that in itself speaks volumns.

Why are the men always to blame? Didn't one of his wives place herself @ Paisley Park for the sole purpose of getting with him? Didn't she accomplish that? He married her in the end didn't he? Women can be just as manipultive if not more than men.

ALL of the women prince was with got a lot in return. Success, money, clothes. They didn't leave empty handed.

Eye never said prince was an abuser. He treated his woman very well.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

The men are not always to blame, and yes, women can be equally as manipulative as men, but face it, Prince went through a lot of women, and he didn't stay in a relationship with not one of them. As for one of his wives placing herself @ Paisley Park for the sole purpose of getting with him, how many haven't, whether it was Paisley Park or elsewhere? However, as a woman, I do know one thing, when women love someone, they will stick around for the long haul, that is unless they are kicked out or can take no more of abuse and broken heart. At least, that's how women were in my day, now a days, women play the game as well as men do. I think Prince had a few good women, but since you consider him a pimp, odds are, it was him that ruined the relationships. He may have treated women very well, but it seems like he gets bored real fast, and falls in and out of love just as fast. He also seems to be attracted to any pretty woman that crosses his path or eyes, and acts upon the attraction. IMO, he just can't be faithful to one woman.

I'm not just picking on Prince KCOOL, but Prince is the one we're talking about here. I'm sure that it's the majority of men, I just hope my husband is one of the exceptions, considering we've been married for a long time.

This FACT was confirmed by Timex Socal Club founding member and lyricist Marcus A. Thompson.

I saw him say that he was referring to Susan from V6. Also a lot of thread topics are rehashed on this site. So U not saying anything nobody already knows. rolleyes

No disrespect to you, but I don't believe that the Susan in that song is the Susan from Vanity 6.

Next, you'll say that "Michael" in the song is Michael Jackson.

Wait--it's not? I kind of always thought it was.

He was a pimp since all of the woman were aware of what he was doing.

Don't play with me, because I don't play. Are you 12, who the hell cares if Prince is a so called "pimp" or whether it's true, as if that's something to be proud of. I refuse to argue with you over something so stupid.

Has Prince ever explained the meaning behind any of his songs? I mean to say, as great an effort as Uptown is/was at getting to the bottom of things...what was their source?

I don't think there's ever been a more secretive artist than Prince regarding the inspiration behind his songs. 'Purple And Gold' and 'Baltimore' are the obvious exceptions...apart from that, who knows?

Unless he speaks to his band members etc. and stuff leaks that way, perhaps? We've never had it from the horse's mouth so I remain sceptical.

They often spoke with people from Prince´s camp, either band members or recording personell.

As far as the horse´s mouth goes, most of the time it´s the other way around...people who were there when the songs were written will often give you a more accurate and detailed story about the song or lyric in question than Prince himself, for whatever reason. Not that that is always his modus operandi but it happens quite often.

For example, I always assumed that Nothing Compares 2 U was a song that was inspired by a breakup. Turn out it was partly inspired by someone´s death, as explained in Uptown magazine. But it´s been such a long time since I read it, I barely remember any details.

But sure, you are right, Prince is probably the only person who knows best whom he wrote the lyrics for.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

That's a very good point. In 1983,Prince was focused on writing songs for the movie.Seems like that would have been his main inspiration during that time (writing songs that fit the storyline).Who knows?
