Now that I've heard the entire track:
It has that Batdance "what-the-eff-is-this-do-I-like-it-yes-I-think-I-love-it" controlled chaos sound. And it certainly sounds very different than the PE version, so mission accomplished there. Also I'm a sucker for any Camille song. Confession: If I was drunk at a club and this came on I would lose my shit. (I said if I was drunk.) Conclusion: Two Purple Thumbs Up. Ok finally heard it and very underwhelmed. I totally think like others this is a total Josh remix. It just is kinda boring until the cool ending starts. That's the only reason I listened again. Why not put the radio version on AOA? Seems to make more sense to me but this is Prince we're taking about. However I can also see how it fits the overall by of the album.
The ending saves this song IMO from being a complete bore. The ending kind of reminds me of Loose in a good way! The only misstep at the end is the "ouch" during the killer solo...odd as the lasers ... OH my. The G-Man loves it. So much to say about this one. There are elements and sections where I am hearing the perfect blend of classic Prince and "updated firmware" Prince. It gets pretty sublime when those synths and guitar/synth lead hit near the end, especially with the proper Prince scream, at the perfect point. Very Gary Numan-ish at one point, as well. . DOPE.
