the beginning and the end seem kind of tacked on, but other than that, I dig it. at least it's not a mid-tempo ballad. for a change.

i just want it to leak over the weekend because i could really use

a little pick me up right now and listening to a new prince album

is always nice. i don't mind a crappy sounding leaked version. it

will keep me occupied until the actual release.

I actually like this from about the 2:35 mark, much better than the preview led me to believe. The 3rdeyegirl version is better, but still, it's one of the best from AOA yet.

Now that I've heard the entire track:

It has that Batdance "what-the-eff-is-this-do-I-like-it-yes-I-think-I-love-it" controlled chaos sound. And it certainly sounds very different than the PE version, so mission accomplished there. Also I'm a sucker for any Camille song. Confession: If I was drunk at a club and this came on I would lose my shit. (I said if I was drunk.) Conclusion: Two Purple Thumbs Up.

Nobody would waste their time listening to this if it wasn't branded as Prince.

Ok finally heard it and very underwhelmed. I totally think like others this is a total Josh remix. It just is kinda boring until the cool ending starts. That's the only reason I listened again. Why not put the radio version on AOA? Seems to make more sense to me but this is Prince we're taking about. However I can also see how it fits the overall by of the album.

The ending saves this song IMO from being a complete bore. The ending kind of reminds me of Loose in a good way!

The only misstep at the end is the "ouch" during the killer solo...odd as the lasers ... Bring back the elephants smile

It's the Art Official version. There's going to be a dichotomy between the two versions and this one sounds right for the record. I am big on both versions just like I liked both RnR versions.

As for Josh, people complain for years Prince doesn't work with another producer and the minute he does, it's all the other person's work? I don't buy it.

if anything, it's interesting to see what the end result is when he gets

someone else in to do a lot of the production.

so i don't see it as 'this is shit because josh produced it'. at least it's

different. and i'm curious how it all works as an album.

/

another thing i'm liking this far about this album is that most of the

songs we've heard have a "WTF?" moment. the vocals at the end of
Breakfast, the 'interlude' on Clouds and this last minute or so on the

AOA version of FunknRoll (even the idea that U Know is bacically an

entire fundament by someone else, rebuilt into a prince tune). there

are curveballs, i like that.

/

well except for the lasers in Breakdown, that was a curveball that

hit me right in the middle of the face lol

This is all sensible. Josh can't be blamed if I don't like it, at the end of the day Prince must be happy with it or he wouldn't have put it out there. So there it will stand with the rest of his work. It's going to be very interesting listening to it as an album. And it is good that Prince is doing something different and not just cruising.

It won't be boring. That's the worst offense for Prince. I found Planet Earth and MPLSound incredibly boring. So pedestrian. It seems like AOA really will be something unique. Also, with lasers.

I like it better on third listen; I'm also interested to see how this song works together with the others as a whole.

It is an absolute insult to his entire back catalogue! It's utter shite.

Yeah, there is nothing like it in his catalogue.....because he never used to dumb himself down completely and 100% follow a trend. This is chart wanting, trend following music...period. Nothing more to it. It sounds like all the polluted mess on the charts that is messing up our ears. He has stooped the lowest he has ever with this project and these kids he is now obsessed with.

The mid-life Crisis Xperience.

OH my. The G-Man loves it. So much to say about this one. There are elements and sections where I am hearing the perfect blend of classic Prince and "updated firmware" Prince. It gets pretty sublime when those synths and guitar/synth lead hit near the end, especially with the proper Prince scream, at the perfect point. Very Gary Numan-ish at one point, as well.

.

DOPE.

Here's a question though. If this wasn't Prince, would we ever give it a second spin?

No. And I'm not sure if I want to hear it again, just like I didn't listen to Jughead and 199 The New Master more than twice.

I love this song. Prince is crushing it with all of the tracks from AOA. I'm so stoked to hear the full album in sequence. It's sounding like a late-career classic to me.
