And Susan Rogers was incredibly wrong. Unfortunately, this track is largely unheard and given undue critique off the one and a half snippet released some time back. Listening to the entire thing, you get full appreciation for all the composition that went into it. You've got approximately 2.5 minutes of sung lyrics with music, followed by another 2 to 3 minutes of guitar and horn.

Bliss...I tell ya. I can only hope that it gets released to the masses some day as it is truly something to behold.

Ooh...bedtime!

Thanks for the info and background.

Not really on the blown away level, because that would have been something from the early 1980s, but the last really good thing he made that I liked was "The Sweeter He Is".

"The Sweeter She Is" is just a cover version of a song called "The Sweeter He is". He didn't write it.

P.F.U.N.K.

It blew me the fuck away. I wasn't expecting anything of the like. It dropped straight outta the musical sky and hit my surprised ears with a fierceness and a musical swagger that astounded me. And all in one nights work. I was like...yeah...that 'nickels' still got it.

most definitely "Groovy Potential." It didn't grab me at first, but now I can't stop listening to it. It sounds perfect on headphones, and the last little but of it, when the melody changes up, is bloody brilliant. Give me more of that, please.

Black Sweat was the perfect blend of young prince and mature prince. That video was perfection - grown and sexy smile

I'm very familiar with The Soul Children and J Blackfoot....."The Sweeter He Is", "I'll Be The Other Woman", "Love Makes It Right", "Tell Me What's Happening Baby".... This is Prince covering the song though so the "He" still applies. lol

Rock and Roll Love Affair, FixUrLifeUp and The Breakdown -- especially FixUrLifeUp.

All those tracks are actually requested at my place by my other half -- I was not sold on RRLA at first, too many parts I found pedestrian but it gets requested, with a focus on the line "It's tight..."

FixUrLifeUp packs more punch overall and what I like best is that to some extent it has a bit of a feminist tinge, which is needed in Prince's work, considering many of his past lyrics.

The Breakdown -- jury is still out because it's still too new to pass my personal test of "ok this is something that I can play years from now" but my other half likes nothing better than those Empty Room/Purple Rain expansive ballads.

Another song that stands the test of time despite lyrics I find objectionable is Dear Mr. Man. It does not "floor me" but it is musically riveting in its perfect balance and cool tempo. Too bad the lyrics are in part positively stupid.

Rock and Do Love affair is in my top 5 of the last 3-4 years.... I loooove that tune....looooove it. It doesn't 'blow my mind' though. P.F.U.N.K fuckin BLEW MY MIND. The attitude, its unexpectedness, the sonic impact, the arrangement. It just fuckin... For lack of eloquence... BLEW MY FUCKIN MIND.
but I enjoy some other songs more....like Rock and Roll love affair and the sweeter she is...for instance....if that makes sense.

I always seem to catch a maroon 5 type vibe from those two.
