Rock and Roll Love Affair, FixUrLifeUp and The Breakdown -- especially FixUrLifeUp.

All those tracks are actually requested at my place by my other half -- I was not sold on RRLA at first, too many parts I found pedestrian but it gets requested, with a focus on the line "It's tight..."

FixUrLifeUp packs more punch overall and what I like best is that to some extent it has a bit of a feminist tinge, which is needed in Prince's work, considering many of his past lyrics.

The Breakdown -- jury is still out because it's still too new to pass my personal test of "ok this is something that I can play years from now" but my other half likes nothing better than those Empty Room/Purple Rain expansive ballads.

Another song that stands the test of time despite lyrics I find objectionable is Dear Mr. Man. It does not "floor me" but it is musically riveting in its perfect balance and cool tempo. Too bad the lyrics are in part positively stupid.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with "lame" musical tastes biggrin

The Breakdown is sweet, too.

Actually if we're really talking "mind blown" I'd say Extraloveable 2011 for solo Prince and Superconductor and When Stars Collide for side-projects. But IDK what "mind blown" really means, a song may be my favorite song of the week then I'll move on to something else, there's too much music to listen to, really, so it's more "does it speak to me or not" than "am I being mind blown" even though every once in a while, I ain't 14 anymore and I am always hungry for new music cool

Yeah I'm sure she did, it's just that prince is all over the place in terms of arranging it and playing on it, so even though he didn't write it it's a collaborative effort nonetheless.

Crimson and Clover... The way he took ownership of that thing

I also really thought Dreamer and Colonized Mind were quite good as well. The single disc LotusFlower was quite good actually... Even lyrically which Prince is really struggling with these days

Eye wish prince would add it to his tour repertoire, like he did the classic "Super Conductor" my favorite track from her album...

The Unexpected probably.. and before that Groovy Potential.. and before that Future Soul Song. I liked the Breakdown but it grew on me, it didn't blow me away on first listen, the other songs I listed did.

Change it one more time..

Stranger

'Boom' for me, followed by 'Dreamer' and 'Colonised mind'....

I heard 'Wow' the Prince version over the PA before the concert at the Roundhouse and it sounded like one of those monumental Prince songs that only he could do, ie like 'she's always in my hair', so i woul love to hear that one again smile

I really loved Colonized Mind and had that song on rotation for months. But since I found out that it's just an uncredited cover of an old song from Miriam Makeba, I can't listen to it anymore.

.

Oh, and I like "Groovy Potential" very much.

That's awesome! Those are two tracks that I definately love and have played over and over!

Yeah I LOVED those two.. was hoping when he let that radio station play Turn Me Loose that that was a sign he was going to release a funk album, but then that went silent. I still think that'd go perfect on an album with Big City.

Change it one more time..

F.U.N.K. - Prince is at his best when he actually has something to say.

Lotusflow3r is one of his best albums ever. MPLSound is also excellent. Haven't really enjoyed much since then. I think i'd like Plectrum Electrum if I could ever hear it!

And Susan Rogers was incredibly wrong. Unfortunately, this track is largely unheard and given undue critique off the one and a half snippet released some time back. Listening to the entire thing, you get full appreciation for all the composition that went into it. You've got approximately 2.5 minutes of sung lyrics with music, followed by another 2 to 3 minutes of guitar and horn.

Bliss...I tell ya. I can only hope that it gets released to the masses some day as it is truly something to behold.

Ooh...bedtime!

The last time I got the goosebumps over a Prince song was When I Lay My Hands On U.

I have loved a lot of songs since. (I might add the live version of the song, not the on line release.)

"recorded" =Dreamer
