Great article!

Prince mentioning apples is funny. lol

I'm über excited to hear both of these records, Prince's AND 3rdeyegirl. Patience isn't a virtue that I've mastered.

Oh...and FIRST!

Yeah, great article. Really looking forward to hearing this album (more than Plectrum Electrum for sure). The second track which he describes as being 'hard to grasp on first listen' sounds interesting, as does This Could Be Us with 'ecstatic Prince vocalizing'. I've always liked whimsical, playful Prince.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

There very well may be a co-production credit. However, I really can't see Prince giving Josh full producer credit on his much anticipated "comeback" album. This one is going to garner a ton of media and critical attention due to the "Purple Rain" anniversary/reissue and, maybe even moreso, the fact that it's his "make up" release with his old label after almost two decades of feuding. Good, bad or indifferent, there's gonna be a ton of ink spilled about this album when it comes out. I don't believe Prince would undermine himself by making it seem like he thought he needed to be produced by someone else to be successful (as some writers would doubtlessly present it).

.

The main thing I know from reading this, though, is that I CANNOT wait to hear the new album!!!

so let me get this right: prince has an album ready, but complains that there's no one

readily available at warners (at least no one high up enough) to discuss distribution /

release with and it is all taking to long.

/

remember what that lead to in the past? falloff

/

and now 3rd Eye Girl are sitting in the studio as prince previews his own solo album

and chirps that 'finally' he now has a cohesive collection of material ready?

/

in short: falloff falloff falloff

My guess is that Josh will probably share a co-production credit on a fair share of songs.I really can't see Prince giving him a full producers credit for the album. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of this material would be pretty close to "Fallinlove2nite" type fare. During the past 15 years or so I've usually found that when critics describe Prince's new music as funky i've usually found it ain't. I hope i'm proven wrong with this album but I have zero expectations.

I had to laugh at Prince already complaining about his new deal with WB before the first actual release (not counting the Breakdown).

What has it been, 4 years without releasing an album in the US before he signed that deal? I figured hte problem was he was too busy touring to coordinate the promotion of a release.

the article just mentions josh as 'engineer/producer' in general,

it doesn't mention anywhere that he produced the new album.

and we all know that he produced a lot of remixes lately and he

seems to have co-written "FallInLove2Nite", hasn't he?

so from that i would just take that prince has a new solo album

and it features josh as producer in places, employed more as a

kind of 'musician' than anything else, if that makes any sense.

Sounds kinda promising.Especially the Rita Ora thing, not because i'm a fan but because she's from "nowadays" which could mean Prince finally opens up to contemporary influences. Also good to hear Josh might be co-producing, not because i know anything about him but just because for the very fact that Prince has opened up to the idea of someone from the outside having a say production wise.I thought that Princes ideas of sound design and production (while technically top notch) have become a bit dated in recent years so i think any production input from the outside is a good thing. In an ideal world i would hope for a Prince album produced by the likes of Pharrell or Questlove or Jamie Lidell or similar but i guess for a start Josh will suffice smile

.

Oh yeah and i really wanna see a vine or at least a pic with Prince cooking in the kitchen.

Josh is credited as the sole producer of "Fallinlove2nite".

Bream said Prince "whined". Remember these two didn't get along for a while.

Prince should hire a publicist who can get him interviews with other media outlets. Why Prince continues to go to Jon Bream for press? I'll never know.

It's, also, not good that Warner Brothers are not easy to reach. Here's hoping that we still hear the Purple Rain deluxe set this year, regardless.

:yeahthat:

Just cuz it says he's a producer doesn't mean he's princes producer. He produced or co-produced that fallinholetonite track and some remixes that played on live stream. Its doesn't imply that prince has hung up his role as a producer and is handing it over to a rookie for the entirety of an album....prolly not even a song on that album. He prolly just be producing side projects and/or remixing stuff.

In am glad to hear prince acknowledge that his last several releases weren't cohesive albums. I saw them as collects of singles. Him being excited about it being a cohesive album is promising.

And you know the first thing that struck me about this story...not, wow there may finally be new music on the way but how much of an absolute dick Prince really is!!

Why should somebody from WB be available in the dead of night...he recorded the music didn't he, it'll still be there in the morning. Also he didn't have the decency to show his face for the guy that DID come. Why wod somebody be on standby to listen to an album that may or may not get released?

NEWSFLASH - WB have done just fine without him whereas his career has somewhat slumped without thier guidance. The music world has moved on since his last hit in the 90's hence he's doing Madonna and matching on to the new life (LaHavas,Mvula,Ora)- if he doesn't like it maybe he shouldn't have backtracked. You can't have it both ways...is he a significant artist in today's music world - NO, he's a walking talking greatest hits back catalogue which the wider world think has retired or died a few years back -Just concentrate on releasing the old music from when people gave a shit and don't worry that people don't take your calls
P-p-e-n-g-u-i-n......the P is silent

Yeah I think Joshua comes across as a decent fun guy, he's only young and Prince obviously see's something in him to keep him around and have him involved so much. It's not bad having Prince around as a Metor is it? smile

I really don't know what to make of that... I hope the album doesn't sound like fallinluv... But the remix of funknroll they played in one of he concerts I went to last month was good... Well, we shall wait and see. Or not, depending on whether he releases this one or not...

Prince & 3rd Eye Girl are still listed on Kobalt, I think if their relationship was now non-exsistant they would have been advised to remove all images of him from their site?
