very short song coming in at under 2min. I am not a huge fan of the song, but i enjoy it seeing that controversy is my favorite Prince era. I wonder who are sharing the lead vocals with Prince. Good guitar work

I love it too, but to this day it's still an odd punk rockish political ditty that segues perfectly into Let's Work monumental groove. Like some of the best antipasto before the main course.

I love the song, but oddly, my love for it is increased by how cheesy it sounded when I first heard it in 1984, when I bought the previous albums before Purple Rain. I couldn't rank it in my top 100, but I love the ending. I just can't rank it ahead of Private Joy or Let's Work, the songs Ronnie is attached to due to Prince's preocupation with merging tracks.

It's nice to see this song getting some love, since there's a lot of hate for it 'round these parts.

I love it 'cause it's the first glimpse into P's wonderful sense of humour. I still laugh out loud when that last explosion sound effect hits. lol

To really appreciate it, you really had to be coming up in 1981. Less throwaway and deeper than you think. Those times were kind of scary if you were a kid. And, now they're pretty much back. Not cool. confused

U hear that 2, me 2

I was always under the impression it was Lisa on vocals with Prince.

And I've always said...side 2 of "Controversy" is arguably Prince's most underated work. nod

Make it so, Number One...

Bluu

Seriously catchy tune. The lead-in is visceral, with its blistering guitar track, brilliant use of tension and pace, and one of P's most memorable screams. Just as fun and infectious to listen to now as it ever was.

You are correct: Princevault has Lisa down for background vocals on this song.

Right? This song is a masterpiece, great lyrical content, amazing context, groundbreaking sound, groundbreaking synths & vocals, the use of explosions as a way of approaching the war & its atmosphere.... This is Prince at his absolute magnicifient genius. "Roonie Talk to Russia before it's too late"... this is the dopest of the dopest songs Prince ever wrote.

I'll bitchslap anyone who says that I'm trolling, no, this is a great song!

eek eek Pure Blasphemy! Annie Christian is a WORK OF GENIUS. put your crack pipe down and back away slowly......

but Ronnie was always just filler to me, didn't treat it as a real song, i'll have to re-evaluate, it FIT the album content wise for sure. Segues great tho!
