Slow Love, Strange Relationship, It's gonna be a Beautiful Night. Instrumental input on "all" three songs.

It not that hard for Prince to rerecord what others came up with. We all know he's capabale of playing what most of his early band members did on each instrument. He has done this through his entire career. Good examples are basslines on The Work and Do Me Baby originally played by Andre Cymone. Alot of his tracks were most likely repackaging alot of the jams from band rehearsals. If you're a good producer, you'll know where the cool bits and pieces fit together in a studio production. Very much like what a hip hop producer does with samples. Only difference is he is playing everything himself. If Prince and The Revolution came up with a binch of ideas for what would become Sign of The Times, he could easily either remove what they played, or record it again entirly by himself with some minor changes, so that they can't sue him for stealing. No matter what he does, the idea for alot of the songs were most likely something that came out of them working together. Not saying Prince wasn't able to create genuis stuff alone though. But one of his greatest skills was to hear what others have done that was good. Also the Little Red Corvette solo that was 3 different solos by Dez Dickerson that was glued together, is a perfect example of Prince using his skills similar to the modern sampling based producers. He knew what fit together in the end.

That's all just speculation.

The wooh is on the one!

and of course we know he took their vocals off Strange Relationships

yet their vocals are on Slow Love

Starfish & Coffee was co-written with Susannah Melvoin

and just like a lot of the music from PR - Parade, you know he had Wendy & Lisa mostly, doing work on the songs.

Two things : Prince didn't state he's going to tour his 30year Purple Rain album. So The Revolution band we will never see again live, I think. To much happened too long ago. Second, he will release a new album. That's all he wants right now. The 3rdEye band isn't something you rehearse for over a year and a half, and then put aside. Impossible for Prince to fix that with a new band in two or three weeks, since he's coming to Europe for instance... Or even after that. The PR reissue will only be hot in 2014. Things need to go fast from now on, if Prince or WB want to make money out it the way they see it...

"Prince didn't state he's going to tour his 30year Purple Rain album." Nor did he say he's going to play with The Revolution. Finally, someone gets it! People are getting themselves in a tizzy about Prince should reunite with The Revolution for a one-off show at First Avenue, televised concert special for charity or tour, when the press release clearly said Prince is releasing the digitally remastered edition of the album "Purple Rain" to mark the 30th anniversary of its release.

There's no evidence to suggest that Prince had W&L doing work on songs on SOTT other than the three songs mentioned.

its not that anyone EXPECTS prince to tour with the revolution .. we just want prince to be GOOD again .. shouldn't be too much to ask of mutherfucking prince .. now should it? .. the remaster is the perfect excuse to dump his current crap line up and focus on making REAL music with REAL musicians

He is a damn mess for saying that. If he said, "Jump!" they said, "How high?" if there wasn't any improvising, it's because he didn't call for it. The girls in 3eg are great musicians but they play on command! I have seen P more than once motion to Donna or Ida to go do a solo that they would never do without him saying so. UGH. I just want a fucking reunion at First Ave. Just one. He doesn't have to tour with them, record with them or climb into the fucking bed with Wendy and Lisa. Damn it. It broke my heart the last time they thought he might show up and play with them and he didn't. (I think it was the '03 reunion video where they were discussing if he would show?) These people had a big part in making Prince who he is.. instead of talking down to them, he should be thanking them. I hate his attitude at times!

He also had Wendy at the 2007 Minneapolis shows Macey's Target & 1st Avenue

Lisa and Wendy did some other shows with him in that 2005-2007 period. He had Bobby Z on drums for Purple Rain last year. & most of the band members in the last 7 years were old too except for the Twinz. Prince has aged, any daytime photos show how much older Prince looks.

Eye'm aware of all the shows they have done together in the 2000's. Everybody has aged. But stand Prince next to any Revolution member now and they all look DECADES older than him...

Try BrownMark.

He was looking great at the first My Purple Heart event.

Dude don't think Prince hasn't had work done, and he still wears make up

His age and their age means nothing, most of the people in his band in the last 10yrs were not attractive people

How is 'barely a band member' either she was or she wasn't.

She was already doing stuff with Prince remember Free & Irresistable Bitch?

I bet every now and then that Prince entertains himself by checking out the org for angry posts after he has said something in the media that might provoke some emotions. It's too easy for him to make us waste our time discussing stupid shit while he is making millions of dollars touring. We can complain all that we want, saying his new band members ain't all that. Fact is, he us still earning millions every other day, and us most active in here are wasting a lot of valuable time.

The Revilution released the best music IMO, pre revolution and Lovesexy/sott-band was the coolest live bands IMO, npg was probably the tightest sounding with both bland and Blackwell. 3rdeyegirl is a cool break just trying stuff out. Sometimes it sound amazing, sometimes it's a bit off. However Prince is educating the youth while also probably learning something from them. Would he even use Instagram, Twitter etc if it wasn't for these girls, I actually think his strategy right now us not that dumb. It's a way if finding himself again. A change us good every now and then.

It think they meant barely as in brand new..

I agree, they have all aged. (how is this relevant?) I don't think any are too old to play as well as they ever did?
Also, never knew Andre was considered a Revolution member? sad

Everybody stop on the 1...GOOD GOD! Uhh!

rolleyes

Eye don't get U! U are one of the moderators of a site dedicated to Prince. U have the BEST post Eye have ever seen, put up on here daily, dedicated to his work. But yet U insult his legacy & give credit to EVERY one but his genius craftmanship 4 the "Masterpieces" he creates. disbelief

Wendy WAS NOT a bandmember b 4 "PurpleRain". Singing a barely audible, background vocal b 4 on a couple of tracks, doesn't qualify her of being one either. She fit the profile of the movie and blended in well. She grow on me by "Parade" & was a seasoned pro by the Hit & Run tour. Then poof! She was gone like the rest of The Revolution". Besides Fink.

Those pics prove nothing! Having work done still doesn't have anything to do with natural, youthful genes. biggrin

But we cool no hard feelings.. LOVE4ONEANOTHER biggrin
