The Canadian release is very good.

.

DVD <> BD.

Yes, I know-it's a less expensive alternative, with a decent picture.

Was the HD mkv source of the SOTT movie that is circulating sourced from this BluRay?

What's the aspect ratio? There are two HD versions of SOTT, one that opens up the frame more revealing more to the top and bottom (brouadcast in HD on cable). Then there is the 16:9 one used for the DVD and blu-ray.

I believe it was a 1920x1080 format but will check again when I get home...

It is an mp4 but it is 1920x1080. (could not resist)

I'd suspect that was from the Australian blu-ray then.

These rips often get standardised so the aspect ratio of the rip doesn't tell you much. But I suspect it's the BD, since one of the circulating rips says "BDRip" and the other looks like it has the same properties (same H.264 codec for instance).

Widescreen 16:9 (no bars)

But I think that there is a strange HD digital file out there that is a full frame copy that sourced from cable broadcast.

The movie was not full frame in the theaters. It was widescreen. Not sure if the VHS (or Beta) is full frame.

So, did anyone order this? Any updates on the quality? Is this the same as the barebones Australian Blu-ray?
