Beautiful packaging! I bet the movie file they used is the same as the official blu-ray from Australia which is a very faithful master (and the same that they scaled down and derived the Canadian DVD from).

Well one can render a opinion basically untenable by debunking the underlying assumptions behind it. Of course people can still hold onto an opinion after this debunking has occured, but that's basically their perogative. This obviously doesn't (or hardly ever) includes subjective judgements about art or whatnot. I remember reading a blog post from a philosophy lecturer who said that the first thing he told his students is that everyone is not entitled to their own opinion, but that it had to be justified or it wouldn't be worth expressing. I thinks that's what's being said hear, if you do post an opinion you better make sure the assumptions behind it are true or it's liable to be rubbished by others.

I found that you can buy it on Amazon but it is region 2b so it won't play on a US blu ray and it also $140.00 a copy. I like the movie but not that much...lol

Will a Japanese BLu-Ray play in American Blu-Ray Players?

Ok, did a little research with my Crystal Google Ball.... US and Japan Blu-Rays are "Region A" and will play just fine in either place. (NOT the case with DVD's however.)

So..... I will definately picking up this set!!! THanks for the heads-up!!!

Also, for those of you who have a case of the "look-at-me-I-talked-shit-to-Bart-am-I-part-of-the-cool-club-now?"'s, get over yourself. People have different opinions and different ways of conveying it. Your way is not right and his way is not wrong, and vice versa. The sooner we can all agree to disagree this world will be a much better place. You all seem like grade-schoolers picking on the fat kid. Grow up.

Bart attacks others! He doesn't just give an opinion. So stay out of it!!!!

[Edited 4/9/14 18:17pm]

I would rather read other peoples objective opinions than reading just the same opinion all the time.

They still do that region stuff? How stupid is that?

One more reason to not just get a regiod free DVD player but also to get a region free BluRay thing.l

And then you think you support the business by buying stuff...

No, they hate you and treat you that way.

True, but the quality will only be better on BD if the source material allows for it. I think even perceptively on a 32 inch LCD TV it would be hard to tell between DVD and BD for something shot on 35mm in the 80's.

35mm film has arguably greater than HD resolution as can be seen even in old movies like The Wizard of Oz. A while back, I made a blu-ray to DVD comparison of frame detail of Purple Rain (SOTT should be quite similar as both were shot on grainy high speed (low light) film stock):

It's quite like your screen is wiped clean when you switch to blu-ray from DVD on an HD tv. Even with a movie as old as "Casablanca".
