I agree, I want more solo Prince work. Also I think this is a pretty valid question, for some reason I just don't see Prince holding on to this band for longer than an album or two.

all i want after this is a website where we get 2 or 3 songs each month,

that come out of the vault. i don't even have to have the good stuff and

the 80s classics anymore. just give me whatever you got. stuff from an

album like "madrid 2 chicago", a "3121" outtake, a 2011 song recorded

with no project in mind, etc etc. just open the vault a little bit.

meanwhile he can go on doing whatever it is he wants to do and i'll be

happy just to have a steady flow of material and the wait won't seem so

long or the mindfucks won't seem so shady regarding 'current projects'.

he could still hang on to the 'good stuff' for possible future remasters

with extra bonus tracks and such. just release the stuff that never did

belong to any project and will otherwise never ever see the light of day.

never gonna happen tho. but it would be nice.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

i'd love something like an accoustic mission.. guitar/piano with maybe a talented violin player to accompany him

& to crack out some of his unplayed catalogue.

My question is, what do you want next?

I would like a real return to the Minneapolis Sound. A return to Prince's pioneering drum machine and synth programming, with funky rhythm guitar and super tight bass licks and vocal effects. Essentially, a modern day "Controversy" combined with "Camille" album. No horns, unless they are heavily digitally processed.

2010 was a cute little look back at the past; something rare for an artist like Prince. I personally hope he does something completely different/ unexpected. I almost never listen to Prince's old stuff. Probably haven't for 20 years. Maybe more! I lived through it. It's over. Finished. Loved it back then. Today, a lot of it sounds dated. And Prince , in my humble opinion, has grown and gotten better in every conceivable way . Better musician. Better singer. Better songwriter. His best songs these days are usually more complex than his old hits. I prefer new Prince sounds to old Prince sounds any day of the week. So no more Lin Drums please!

I'd be curious to see the current format morph into a funkier synth heavy sound. All while keeping it somewhat raw. I think that's what made albums like Dirty Mind, Controversy, and even Purple Rain stand out to me personally. They just have that certain grit or edge to them along with some great synths and drum programming.

.

I'm as much as I love the horns and all I'm kinda tired of the Vegas style-jam session-medley-over produced-vanilla sound. More so the live shows vs studio in that regard.

.

I too would like to see some sort of consistant release of vault material/outtakes in between projects. We did get some of that going last year but I think he was searching and feeling out what he wanted to do next.

I want even MORE GUITAR!! I would like to see a 3 or 4 album run with this band really being aggressive in rock and see what they can do. A one album project jsut isn't enough. By the time people hear wind of them it will be over if its just a one album project. I would really like to see this band progress and grow in the rock field. It would be interesting I think

Good call. Maybe not 4 albums but it would be good to let this bed in and be an era. 2-3 albums max.

As others have said, I want him to do a few more albums with 3EG, to develop and grow together for awhile and see what results from them all influencing each other. Right now they all just got past the point of getting familiar with one another.

After that?...Something more edgy and experimental, working with other producers and songwriters even. Maybe even something like the Desert Sessions, only Prince plays the role of Josh Homme. Bring a bunch of diverse talents together and see what results.

Yes, I would absolutely love that too!

Edit that (hence the edit time stamp): Now that I think further, yes on the piano. But add an orchestra with some violins. I think he'd make some beautiful jazzy/classical compositions. Sorry Nurse, didn't mean to hijack your wish smile

I would like that. As long as it's not like MPLSound cd.

I hope we get a hard rock funk album form 3rd eye girl.

Well if U ask me I really do not want a real return of any sorts.. I tend to enjoy living in the future rather than the past, so Nope I do not wish Prince prince trying to dabble at the Mpls sound circa 1985 cuz 1985 is LONNG GOOOOOOOONE my friend. In another hand I will gladly welcome anything Prince will throw my way in this Millenium and beyond because time is what u make of it ;p...

Yes!

I want him to do an album with funk electronic uptempo songs....mixed with some ballads and one anthem like song ( like Purple rain, the last december or gold)....

Modern beats, not like on 20TEN..was too old school for me smile

I agree

I thought 20ten was weak

DOnt U Wanna Fall in Love 2Nite and Big City for me stand out amongst the stuff he has done over the last couple of years

I like the funk/electro sound better than the Hendrix guitar stuff which too me isnt really funk !

I'd like to actually see 3rd eye girl live for one thing, but I'd be happy if he released a full big band album to reflect the current NPG. Go full on Cab Calloway, why not? Just bloody release something to reflect your current bands already. Triple album: Prince solo, 3rd Eye Girl and NPG. He won't do it but I'd dig that.

I want Prince to ditch the 3rdeye bullshit, work sole and present us a masterpiece, a classic to be remembered for this decade.

I don't want to see a "Best Album of the 10s" list in 2019 that has no Prince in it.

I want Prince to go whatever direction he wanted (Pop, funk, rock, soul, R&B.. whatever), just execute it in a bearable way, and give each song a lyrical purpose, a tone, an atmosphere.

I want Prince to keep 3RDEYEGIRL around for a couple of years and release 3 albums with this group before he moves on. Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL are a distinctive group musically and visually. Musically, live they are raw, youthful and vivacious and I think Prince has something going with them. They are a viable rock band that with the upcoming album "Plectrumelectrum" and several more albums could carve out their own niche within Prince's legacy. Visually, the women are beautiful and have distinct looks. Prince has kept musicians and singers longer than he should have like Shelby J, Cora and Josh Dunham for example. I want him to keep recording with live instruments and analogue recording techniques because rarely on record has he released records with live playing all the way through. Prince has already recorded a project based on the Minneapolis Sound-"MPSLOUND". There's more than enough recordings of the Minneapolis sound to last a lifetime. "Real music by real musicians" is a mantra he has preached since 2002. They do it on record as well as in concert. Prince can continue with this band.

Yeah, I'd like to see Prince keep 3RDEYEGIRL and make 2-3 albums with them, ideally released annually. After that... maybe a really murky funk album (something like Sly & the Family Stone's 'There's A Riot Goin On), a more piano-based album, or whatever really, as long as what he releases is of good quality, (preferably with strong lyrics, strong atmosphere and less I'm-Prince-and-I'm-cool-swagger).

As everybody already knows, those girls days in the band are numbered. Prince gets bored easily. He needs to give the people what they want and everybody knows what that is. Such a shame all of his new material sounds so uninspired. He's still a great musician. But burnout happens to every artist. just look at Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Jimmy & Terry, etc.

Yes most of his new material sounds uninspired imo but he is still releasing a few good songs every now and then. As 4 the girls, I think they will be gone by next year. I would be suprised if Prince hasn't moved on by then
