it's definately
a classic prince joint

The nay-sayers are expecting a note for note rendition of purple rain, but somehow different.
This applies for a good amount of his songs after the 80s.

It must be tough for prince if he actually gives a damn. confused

small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

it really is a stunner, only he could do a track like that. Very, very surprised that it's not a regular one in the live set, would love him to do this acapella with the audience joining in.

I've mentioned my (lack of) feelings on the song, and therefore I don't miss it at all. But this is an interesting point.

This would be only speculative, of course. But I wonder if the song reminds him of his relationship with Mayte, one that perhaps ended in a particularly painful place. sad

πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

The song appeared a few times on the Musicology tour and the general audience loved it.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Good song and was his last across the board hit, yes thats right Prince hasnt had a hit single in 20 years, accept it people. I dont count "I HATE U" though it was Top 15, it was all sales generated, it had zero airplay at pop radio so it wasnt an across the board hit by any means.

I recall hearing "I Hate U" getting a bit of airplay on Top 40 radio at its initial release. But, yes, it sort of stalled. And it's too bad. That song is excellent. I can recalll DJs going nuts over the closing guitar solo, short as it was. I thought the track might really have broken the Top 10.

@LastDecember,

According to the billboard hot 100 charts, Any song that peaks in the top 40 on their charts is considered a ''hit'' So, technically Prince last hit was ''I Hate U'' and the re-issue of ''1999'' which also hit the top 40.
