I'm still waiting for it to come down--but I gotta say, these are incredibly consistent positive responses.

Worst song I've heard in quite some time - uninspired, tuneless and, quite frankly, plastic and thin sounding. Similar in my ranking to My Little Pill, just a touch better than Jughead, though.

I belive Spirit Otter is being sarcastic about current critique of Prince's work (did I get that right Spirit Otter)

You know that was just awesome.... I got a big ol fuzzy feeling of listening joy inside.

I know i'm in the minority but if he never releases another album but keeps the tracks coming like he has this year then I'm never ever gonna complain.

When the album comes I will be happy for sure. But it's not like there's been a drought this year infact I've enjoyed the flood of cool music....

U Will Be With Me

Midnight Blues

Octopus Heart

Menstral Cycle

Same Page Diffrent Book

Rock N Roll Love Affair

Boyfriend

That Girl Thing

Screw Driver

Plectrum Electrum (Sample)

Breakfast Can Wait

Ain't Gonna Miss U When You're Gone

Extraloveable (Reloaded)

Live Out Load

Groovy Potential

Never Be Another Fool (Chelsea Rodgers Mix)

Moon Drop

Toe Jam

Hidden Colours

How It Feels

(have I missed any?)

That's without all the rehearsals remixes and live clips, So very greatfull this years output

Great track. Prince at his best. The fuzziness of the recording adds so much power. At the end, it sounds like it's going to segue to If The Kid Can't Make You Come.

Not bad...pretty soulful. I tend to wish for fewer covers, but I'm sure that during a concert with crowd energy this can be one of those songs that can generate a special moment. This just shows that Prince is still that rare popular music talent who can remind R&B of its church roots. Da doors of the Church of Funktivity are open; won’t ya come?

How does one change a .bin file to a playable file on android?

Arrrggghhh. Typically I have no problems doing this stuff....I just can't seem to make I t coopertate. The .bj. To wnloads(deceptively quickly) but none of my apps will unzip or open or play it. It downloads at 10.68 mb's...so I dont think its compressed.

These kinda tunes aren't always on my "best of" lists.

But this one did manage to tickle my taint. I'm in LOVE with Ida's string massage on this cut....even though its not the bestest ever or crazy good...I still just love it. The "y'all wanna hear da blues" I intro tag makes me chuckle too. Sounds like a vaguely more mature version of cloreen baconskin vocal. That bass/bass drum Switch up around 3:30 adjust my inner groove perfectly. Guitar AND piano solos...yummy. the teamwork of the nass!/drums...I dig this cut....much. Even though the vox aren't in his more evocative upper register, the soul and hurt seem more apparent. In general I love all the little details in this cut...signs of intimacy and care....connection. Brfstcnwt...menstrual cycle...screwdriver... LOL...ain't gonna.....rcknrlllvaffr...this....I'm digging the diversity

I'm ashamed I never heard this song before today

Hmm, good question.

The other question is, if someone covered a Prince song and released it for free, would he let them?

The Morning Papers? This rather lame excuse for music is like elevator musac, and more akin to the depth of T. C. Ellis' take on Love. Schmaltzy and without a deep, authentic, voice. Self-inducing pity and almost as abhorrent as Prince's take on 5 Women. Where has the real Prince disappeared to? Seems we lost him in '95.

the title of the thread should be changed, otherwise people will keep thinking it's an original Prince composition...

That's a good point. The Soul Children won't get a dime before the song isnt for sale, but if any other artist recorded a cover of a Prince tune, would he take legal action or make a snide remark about the cover (i.e. Lopez Tonight). It surely would be ironic if Stax Records or Soul Children pursured legal action against Prince.

All things said, this is a very soulful rendition, backed by 3RD EYE GIRL. They surely have grown as as players since January.

^ yes a little strange, when U think about that..

I really appreciate this song though... never mind Prince's double standards when it comes to cover-songs..

It's ok for him to cover other artists, but forbidden for others to cover his material... strange double standard...

But let's appreciate, and not complain too much.. smile

It is called RnB if you do not like RnB that is fine but please stop trying to rate music you do not like or understand. Prince never abandoned RnB music or culture so get over it or get off the Purple Bus.
