Prince + Lindy Layton connection: anyone knows the story?

I'm just listening to Lindy Layton's first solo album, Pressure, from '91, which have been a fave of mine for almost 20 years and contains a cover of Do Me, Baby, and I was just thinking that IIRC it was announced at some point in Uptown Mag that this album was to be released and contain that cover AND a new Prince-penned song, but eventually only the cover was released.

Is the story behind this known? Do we know which song P was supposed to give her and why it was finally left out the album?

I googled that quickly and only found an old Org thread from 2003 where a now orger named Chasing managed to speak more nonsense in a single post than a full bunch of us on a 10 pages thread, so I thought I'd better come back here and ask smile

Sort of off-topic: How are you able to view old threads? Whenever I search for something via Google (not the custom search on site), my browser crashes when I click a link.

For this particular thread - use the custom search in the top left hand corner of the page:

Based on the OPs post, type in:

Layton Chasing

The first result is this thread

The second result is: http://prince.org/msg/7/57731?pr

Delete the ?pr from the end of the address to give: http://prince.org/msg/7/57731

And there it is

For general search questions, I would suggest you post on the site discussion forum. (I have no idea why your browser is crashing)

Happens on IE too. Or used to. I gave up on using the search here because of it.

Haha, she was the vocalist in Beats International, remember the cover of SOS Band's Just Be Good To Me (as Dub Be Good To Be).

That's a new one on me! I'll need to find that cover, sounds interesting.. Beats International were big in the UK after their no.1, so I'm surprised I heard nothing about her work with Prince at the time. Does anyone think they were romantically linked?

It's a script error. It happens to me and has happened for years. My browser freezes and if I wait long enough a window will appear telling a tale of an unresponsive script and giving me the options of stopping the script or continuing. It's happened in every browser I've tried. It only happens when you get here via a search engine. Searching on the actual prince.org website doesn't seem to be a problem.

I ALWAYS get an unresponsive script for any google search that that links to this site. I have to wait for a few minutes and the browser would crash or for a faster result, ctrl alt delete. I hate it.

I always have these problems with Google searches too, but now it's a bit better because my new computer is faster than the Millenium Falcon biggrin

So no one knows nothing about P and Lindy? sad
