You're right! Nicely done.

Which one of the two...Octopus Heart or Menstrual Cycle? And was Evenflow a cover version of a Wings song? I don´t quite get it. lol

I prefer Octopus Heart over Menstrual Cycle. Not much going on in the latter but Octopus Heart sounds nice!

GREAT TITLE; ''Menstrual Cycle'' ! Way to go Prince, great song too. smile It's different for a change.

''Octopus Heart'' is something that needs a bit more structure, instruments and arrangements IMHO.

Finally, since "the internet is dead", we can download some for free, straight from Prince & 3rdEyeGirl.

(I wonder if this is the first time in 2012-2013 ?)

Now that the titles have switched, it makes less sense, the the longer of the two tracks sounds like it was born out of their Even Flow cover. Even Flow - Menstrual Cycle....

And the Wings comment is a reference to maxipads, I believe.

Yep. I didn't realise the titles had switched? The first "menstrual cycle" was born of Pearl Jams "evenflow" at least to my ears. I then see an injoke within the band around the name "evenflow" having menstrual connotations. And yes, Wings being a convenient band name that as advances the theme.

so I'm assuming that after they swapped the titles to "correct" them, they're NOW wrong. since up until that point the longer one had been referred to as Menstrual Cycle and the shorter one as Octopus Heart.

Yeah, it's definitely odd that the titles of the songs have been switched, and since there is basically ZERO quality control coming out of the Prince camp these days, there is no reason to trust that they have been changed to the correct titles now.

At any rate, I kinda dig both of them, and find them immensely more interesting than anything on NEWS or even C-NOTE (to my ears, anyway). Not usually a big instrumental guy, and while I can't say that either of these are going to be at the top of my list in terms of songs to listen to, if I'm studying, or cooking, or cleaning, or sleeping and need some mood music, these fit the bill nicely.

I have to say though, that I find no similarities to Evenflow in either of these songs. I will admit that I'm not exactly as familiar with Evenflow as some people might be, since the only Pearl Jam album that doesn't make me want to gouge my own eyes out with a toothpick is Vitalogy (which is a GREAT album from a band who otherwise bores me to tears)..but it's one of those songs that was hard to miss during the mid-90's, and I just don't hear it in either of these tracks, at all.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

was listening to octopus heart on the ipod and for some reason I accidently skipped to another song, Jerk Out, which I decided to leave on as I was enjoying so much. Then I realised how crap Prince's new music is today and good it used to be.

Thanks to both of you for claryfing.

I ´d totally forgotten about that Evenflow cover.

So the titles have switched on Soundcloud? I´m asking because I prefer the longer instrumental (10.32 minutes), which I thought was titled "Octopus Heart".

So, the longer one is actually Menstrual Cycle?

It's a bit odd: Menstrual Cycle was the longer track when they originally went up, but they updated the artwork and flipped them a couple hours later.

I prefer the longer track too.

The longer one was also called Menstual Cycle when they were originally streamed. Also makes more sense thematically, if you listen to the track, whether it started out as Evenflow or not.

I'm wondering how to catalog this (when it becomes available). Next to Scarlet Pussy, I guess? hmmm

It's all listed here save the last few 3rdEyeGirl TV shows which I'll ass asap: https://sites.google.com/...ncediscog/

Nothing too interesting about MC 'cept the title. lol Some good guitar on both tracks. Octopus Heart has a nice little groove going, but goes nowhere unfortunately. If they're indeed outtakes, that's some good quality control. An album of meandering instrumentals with weird names, oh lord. pout

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Did somebody say octopus heart goes nowhere?

You obviously aint listening to the same song I am....

The fact that this song goes on and on in so many different musical directions is exactly why I love it.

Pure Prince. yes prince yes

Nothing's been switched!! The longer track which starts with the guitar riff is "Menstrual cycle" and the shorter one with the accented drum beat is "Octopus Heart". Octopus Heart was played on two consecutive days in the live stream, once with a handwritten note on a mixing desk asking "How many hearts does a (sic) octopus have?" and once with the picture of an octopus in the water.

...every night another symphony...

For some reason I went back to the 3EG soundcloud site today, the tracks are still there and they are indeed switched ...what the...!? confuse

My comments above were based on the livestream and on the original soundcloud download.
