That's the thing about this album. The individual songs may not be all that special, but as a whole...they become better than the sum of their parts. So I guess good old P was right after all in releasing the CD as 1 track. It's not a collection of songs. It's a trip.

Yeah I agree with this, I think that trying to put the songs in order of preference made me realise that actually has quite a few tracks i'm really not that keen on. But played as a whole the album does become a beast.

This is kind of tough - Lovesexy rivals 1999 as my favorite Prince album, and I like virtually all of it as part of the "experience."

1. I Wish U Heaven

2. When 2 R In Love

3. Positivity

4. Alphabet St.

5. Glam Slam

6. Lovesexy

7. Eye No

8. Dance On

9. Anna Stesia

The only song I don't like is Anna Stesia, it's a momentum killer and I find the "messaging" to be overkill compared to other songs on the album.

I've seen the future, and boy it's rough...

When 2 R In Love a tad lower, Anna Stesia considerably higher. Yes

And I'm not sure what I'd put as number 1

Track 1 of the CD. It's the one that's 45 minutes long. It's may favorite, hands down.

As a matter of fact it's the only track on the album! biggrin

Finally someone put Dance On at the top - yay! Definately the best thing on Lovesexy and would have made a great single rather than Glam Slam or the really weak I Wish U Heaven. Go back and listen the amazing rhythm and cool lyrics.

For me the only really weak track is Eye No. Other than the great atmospheric opening, the track sounds thin and feels like a jam rather than a song. The vocal is too low in the mix and that snare sound is all wrong. For me, Glam Slam would have been a stronger opener.

.

If Alphabet Street had stayed as a single edit, it would have been super tight and cool. But it gets flabby and over-produced the longer it goes on and I lose interest.

.

The opposite applies to the song Lovesexy which just gets crazier and more exciting the longer it goes on. Absolute genius of arrangement, production and imagination. He literally turns himself into a woman by the end - a perfect example of Prince using the studio to recreate the ideas that are in his head. Amazing. Sexy. Lovely smile

.

(And of course his greatest cover art ever.)

2 Dance On

3 Lovesexy

4 I Wish U Heaven

^ hi, Jane Carol: back in 1988 the original cd was like that: all songs were in 1 sequence/ 1 track. But you are able to buy the album today = where all tracks are.... tracked the right way. wink
