I wasn't born til '92 so i kinda missed this period. i wasn't really into it at all. but after research, outtakes and bootlegs and the 25th anniversary this week, i dug up everything i had and read reviews. This era and album was overlooked, especially here in the states. As usual Europe showed him more love on this record. The album, the band, the outtakes, the aftershows, the look and tour were amazing. This is his funk/pop/gospel album to me. Many great underrated tracks. Anna Stesia is very spiritual and deep. I Wish U Heaven parts 1 2 and 3 are amazing.

I listened to this album (on cassette) over and over and over when I got it in the summer of 1988. That was a weird year for me personally, and this collection of songs was the soundtrack for most of it. From the first days of summer through the fall Lovesexy show in Charlotte NC, I must have listened to "Eye No" and "Alphabet St." a zillion times. Back to back to back.

Just listened to it today for the first time in a very very long time.
It's a great, and sexy, album! Eye No gets you from the start, such a fun, positive, jubilant song!
I wish I had been around (old enough) for the Lovesexy era - looks so exciting, great concerts, energy. I'm sure this is an era when he hooked a lot of females into becoming lifelong obsessives.

Sott - The Black Album - LoveSexy have written Ecstacy all over them.

Pitty he experienced a bad trip and stopped experimenting in that direction.

As soon as Pt 2 starts, you KNOW it's gonna be a party.

PS - Did anyone else bring their I Wish U Heaven 12 inch back to the record store multiple times because of that scratch sound at 0:48? I wonder if that noise was a mistake.

Lovesexy is fabulous... congratulations to this fine album.

.

Brilliant from start to end.

.

I remember buying the album on the release day here in my local shop in Aalborg, Denmark, in may 1988.

.

I was so excited - and still is.

.

I own the Lovesexy cassette tape, the CD (tracked and un-tracked), the singles (vinyls and CDs), the vinyl LP, the VHS and the boot concert DVD.

.

Lovesexy is probably the album that I have listened to most number of times - since then... the 80's.

.

I really feel joy everytime I am listening to Lovesexy. music

Lovesexy was the last record I ever got from the Columbia House Record Club. (How many remember licking those little stamps, getting "free" records and never buying the required ones? Lol)

There was a problem though. My copy of the record was defective. It had several skips during Eye No. Sent it back, got another one. Same problem in the same places! Sent that one back too and once again SKIPS!!! Kept it and just said screw it! So for YEARS later, even after I eventually got it on CD, I would expect those skips during Eye No.

I don't often listen to this one as you have to listen to it in it's entirity rather than selected tracks. This post made me listen to it yesterday. For me, the only worthwhile tracks are Alphabet Street, Positivity and I Wish You Heaven. The rest is too religious for me and overall not worth listening to the whole album for these 3 songs. For me this is probably his weakest album overall.

Wow I have owned 2 copies on vinyl many years apart and yes same thing with both, 2-3 skips in Eye No and 1-2 on title track.. Is it possible there was a huge faulty batch ???
