Normal logic would say release this stuff while your fan base is willing to shell out money for it. That time would have been slowly to release huge outtake sets from 1990 to today. From 2013 on, his fanbase is getting older and older, and as each year passes, more will die off. This younger generation may appreciate Prince, but there will be very passive interest in his vault material if he dies after 2030.
But Normal logic doesn't apply. With Prince logic, he would rather not make any money off it, and let it rot. Had he just released an album every 3 years since Purple Rain blew up, and then released 10-15 disc sets of outtakes every 10 years starting in 1995, we would have had less saturation of the market, while actually getting more music. The outtake sets would've been viewed as treasures for the diehards, without hurting his reputation like the constant overflow of albums did. Tony M would've been on maybe just Gett Off and 2 other songs, but most of his crap would've been on some outtake collection.
But....it is what it is. I hope I outlive Prince to hear this stuff...but even if I do, will I have the energy to care? | |

I would like a version of TGRES that is the single mix with the guitar solo from "Part 2" on the single without having to hear one breath of Gangsta Ho, or whatever her name was. I love old school rap, but when everybody had to have bags of weed, and guns, I got sick of it quick. It was funny and entertaining with Dr Dre and Snoop at first, but the entire genre got stuck in Self-Parody, and lost me around 1994. | |

I know people are digging up some fantastic gems in this thread, but he's performed both of these songs many times over the last couple of years, so a soundboard recording of both of them would be readily available and might be easier to convince him to release than some of the older stuff.
