Well if you think about it, every "family" has its generations.
Prince created this family, and members come and go just
like real life.....people get born, people pass on. Only difference
is, Prince is the only "member" who remains constant.
But Prince is getting older, while his bandmates are
around the same age as the people he played with back in the
early 80's . So now it almost has this "Proffessor Xavier's School
for the Gifted" vibe (imo). But hey, long as he doesn't
shave his head bald and start whippin around on stage
in a hoveround chair.....its all good.

Even Sting probably thought the NPG Operator was corny, and despite all his intellectual powers, Sting is one Corny Mo Fo.

It is a bit dated.

A bit? TWENTYFIVE YEARS. It's time to move on. They were the new power generation, sick and tired of old ideas and stuff.... Now it has become an old idea itself. As an artist he should be creative enough to invent a new name.

Bands keep names for 50 years plus and never change. i'm sorry but this is kinda bitchfesting to me. different incarnation, same name. its inclusive, generic and forward looking all at the same time. room for each version to exist and breathe. just saying.

Prince must be held to a higher standard than other bands and other human beings. So says the ORG!!! lol

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Meanwhile,

what kind of new name is suitable for a band called "The rolling stones"? That name is getting boring after a few decades.

Another band that has carried their name way too long is U2, anybody has a good idea for a different name?

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think Coca-Cola has it;s name for too long. Anbyody knows an alternative name?

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

But the NPG isn't a real band (anymore). The Revolution was a real band (to some extent), and it was over when Wendy and Lisa were dismissed. No Revolution without Wendy and Lisa, and no real NPG without Michael B. and Sonny T. It's just a name that you cannot associate with names, because he's constantly changing musicians.

Sorry if this has been discussed already.... Is 3rd eye girl the new band name? (no more npg) Or, do you think this is a band he is supporting temporarily?

It`s about time!
