It is a fun jam, but that "fantastic ending" some of you here rave about is just a glorious mess IMO.

Who thinks that this Remix version is actually the demo for the "single" version?

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Why would the demo be more refined than the finished version? That doesn't make any sense. I suspect the single is the original, probably born out of rehearsals with the girls (and recorded with them) and then heavily overdubbed. The remix is Prince's solo version, recorded later.

"Remix" sounds much less refined to me. It's much less "busy" and much less "cleaned up" to my ears. Yes, there's more going on musically in the remix, but it's missing his "everything but the kitchen sink" approach that he's so fond of, production-wise, that shows up in the single version.

Exactly!! But I feel the original single is a onemanband also,it doesn't have a band sound to it to me. Peeps here always trying to dissect to find something negative in Prince's latest work of arts & comparing it 2 his past work. Its not fair to Prince.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

yes, on the surface there is more going on in the remix, but underneath the surface, the original is a far more comlplex and refined production

I think so too. You can hear a lot of work went into that single. I hope it pays off for him.

Shocked as I am at myself for only now just purchasing & hearing the Screwdriver Remix- boys o boy was that worth the wait! Holy @£&% it's FANTASTIC!!! excited excited So, so much better than the original imo. Like it cuz it's a bit faster, a bit funkier, & so, so much more sexier!! Amazingly fabulous Prince, I love it!! Especially loving that wee weird, spooky & ghostly sounding "oooh" kinda sound in the middle! giggle

This is a pleasant surprise. Great guitar solos and the I love the beat and mysterious sound effect in the last 2-3 mins!!! Feels kind of alive and fun.....
