This! Some of the best times to be a Prince fan is when he was under the radar. Remember all those Paisley Park parties in the late '90s when NO ONE was fucking with him industry-wise? On a damn near weekly basis, Paisley would host these Friday and Saturday night parties, with an occasional performance. (And I would have died to have been at the one where The War was performed.)

Or the Celebrations... I'd take intimate, obscure, don't-give-a-shit Prince ANY DAY over the Hall of Famer. Don't get me wrong, NPGMC did right by us for the Musicology tour; and I'm glad he was commercially successful. But it wasn't One Nite Alone with aftershows, week-long celebrations at Paisley, etc.
