Oh, and that MP4 is watermarked.

The DVD isn't.

DVD has LPCM audio.

The MP4 hasn't.

i dont know enough to be able to explain it. but for some reason the mp4 looks clearer on my screen.

The video is not perfect but the MP4 does have compression artefacts. See the shot with the 'fanatical fan'.

The MP4 has edges around the original white text.

The DVD hasn't.

There are bitrate limitations, though. (and more issues)

Nope.

After I figured out how to unzip that weird stuff on a non-windoze platform the extraction was quite OK and appears to be not corrupted.

(the ZIP was 500 megs and the Z01 was 1900 megs yet the ZIP was supposed to be the END of the archive; which IDIOT erred from the age old convention of full size files first for ZIP, RAR, etc and at the end the remainder; i.e.: ZIP, Z01, etc in full size; final file is shorter)

I found a different link for the DVD which unpacked with no problems. I also found a link for an mp4 version which for some reason looks better in terms of quality but is only a fraction of the size of the DVD file. How is that possible?

it's not because it's not

it must be the idiots who created the zip software, as that's how it works by default with winzip. sounds like you are behind with the times when it comes to software

I guess you must ask Phil Katz, the original PKzip author. Did you ever use pkzip at the command line?

Also on on other platforms than Windoze, stuff is expected to work differently; oir rather: in the way I described.

So let's see: this was filmed, edited, artwork was designed, it was printed up and then Prince decided it wasn't good enough? ZERO quality control.

why should i ask him, and what should i ask him? i don't have any problems with zipping or unzipping things. you sound like the one having problems. it sounds like your expectations don't match your skill base

someone has bought/obtained a dvd at their own cost, ripped it, zipped it, uploaded it for others who have downloaded, unzipped and burned/played it for free, but you are having a problem with it? guess who sounds like the idiot to me?

The intro track 'Guitar' is a good performance. The rest is a poor choice of performed material. The 'Purple Rain' version is certainly not his best. But, prince's dancing is great. The piano version of 'Little Red Corvette' is cool (his voice is in great shape). The twinz are annoying. Theyr short tour underneath the stage is not interesting at all. And the celebs hails for Prince are pure crap. But, the overall editing is nice. I like the contemporary feel of it. Also the speed up constructing images of the stage in the O2 arena are quite impressive. And hearing Chelsea Rogers talking about Prince's song is cool. But the DVD is too short (40 min or something ?) to be called or remembered as a great tour vid.

Bullshit as I fixed the problem with `cat`.

See http://www.pkware.com/doc...PPNOTE.TXT (8.3) and then see unzip, widely distributed on non-windoze boixes claim that the .zip file claims it is the final file of the archive without bothering about the z01 file.

your problem isn't not being able to unzip, as the power of being able to read and understand posts made me aware from an earlier post that you had able to unzipe it. your problem is something else

you may want to waste your time emailing winzip to complain instead of moaning about it here where no-one gives a shit. you might get a nice automated email in your spam folder

Just seen it, the best bits were the under stage tour, the super funky Musicology clip (and CC's drum solo), Marva singing Chelsea Rodgers whilst having her make up done, Controversy and Renato's solo in Somewhere Here On Earth. Would have made a very enjoyable longer documentary, actually made me miss that line up a bit! They really should have made a best of dvd featuring thee songs...

Lets Go Crazy

I Feel 4 U

Controversy

Shhh

Black Sweat (with bass solo)

If Eye Was Ur Girlfriend

Lolita

Kiss

Planet Earth

Musicology + Prince & The Band
Chelsea Rodgers
Le Freak / Sexy Dancer

Play That Funky Music White Boy

Forever in my Life

Cream

Come Together

Take Me With You

Crazy

Nothing Compares 2 U

Joy In Repetition

Anotherloverholenyohead

Peach

The ? of U / The One

Get On The Boat
A Love Bizarre

Sampler Medley
Purple Rain

that would easily have fitted on one DVD, with maybe an aftershow compilation dvd + the documentary, he missed out on earning a fortune with that!

Co-sign! The final night in London was imho one of the finest Prince concerts ever!!!

But this DVD doesnt do justice to this phenomenal evening at all.

Its just another wasted opportunity of what could have been the ultimate Live-DVD. wall

40 odd mins of concert footage spliced with various celebretards gushing over Prince. The actual footage that you want to see (ie Prince on stage) is poor quality, in fact it's shit, but it is pro shot. The interviews with the celebretards is in better quality. Worth the 5 year wait for this? Not for me, but I'm sure that many of you will love it.

'Celebretards' ??!! Calm down mate, no need for the derogatory words. Z-list celebs, or 'famous for being famous' will do. Don't care about the famous, just defending the most vulnerable in society. I mean, you wouldn't use derogatory racial terms, hey?

Another thing as mentioned above, the aftershows were amazing! biggrin Each one was different in its own right, from the 28th August new power trio show to the 13th September psychedelic show featuring stuff like Beautiful Strange and Around The World In A Day and the tightest, fonkiest version of Musicology around. We're talking 13 minutes of stone cold funk. seriously, you gotta check this version out! razz

i've never heard famous people be called the most vulnerable in society, but then they do often fall for drugs and booze and made up religions. and if jimmy saville was about, who knows what could have happened to them

i think p-diddy, if the stupid name isn't enough, proved you should never go full retard with his stevie wonder made prince outfit

I went VIP on the 13th. £37 for two beers and two double whiskeys!

ATTWIAD!!! PARTY fuckin UP!!! Blew my head off that night. He wore all the cool gear, played all the cool tunes, blinding gig. Red hot version of Beautiful Strange too, oh and PARTY UP!! I'm all over the FYM version too. biggrin

Yeah, release the aftershow dvds. I might start a dirty protest til he does, then again, I might not?

the cameras were turned off for the aftershows but they filmed (with actual film not video) parts of the final aftershow with a single hand held camera, mostly if not all filmed from the stage. a lot of photo taking too. there certainly isn't enough for a full live show

No, it's catered to the average `long-term` attention span.

The amount of 'commercial' garbage per hour is not relevant as it has already been deemed too much.

I like it, its proshot so better in quality than most of those audience recorded crap.I´m tired of those ,sound mostly mediocre with unfiltered audience noise ,videos blurred and resolution on big tv screen to forget.

Yes ,it could have been better quality and yes he could have made far more out of that whole 21 nights-stuff but better this proshot than no proshot.

Cheers, but unless I bad mouth your race and/ or religion the moderators will probably just suggest I send you a private org note. Oh well, I guess its ok to be derogatory towards the most vulnerable in society i.e. those with special needs/ learning dissability.
