Now that I can breathe, here are details:

Prince will be calling the United Center home for a spell starting Sept. 24. His "Welcome 2 Chicago" residency is the latest in his "Welcome 2 America" series of concerts; he previously set up residencies in New York City and Los Angeles.

Prince promised in each of those cities that each concert will be different, heavy on the hits and performed in the round on a stage designed like his iconic love logo.

The residency is being used to support Rebuild the Dream, an organization seeking to help fix the U.S. economy and protect the middle class and poor through outreach, education, rallies and lobbying.

These are His Royal Badness's first Chicago concerts in eight years and there should be no lack of demand for concerts. Tickets for the Sept. 24 show go on sale Thursday, Sept. 6.

There are presales cor CITI cardmembers Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. and a Facebook-text-venue-LiveNation presale beginning 10 a.m. Sept. 5

My guess is a presale code on LiveNation page. Had to like it just in case.

I'm not having a piss here--I'm honestly curious.....But.....

How long has this "welcome 2" stuff been going on?

I haven't been paying much attention in the last couple of years to

them, but I know there have been a couple at least. They seem a bit

spread out, no?

It seems like we're going on two years or so of these things?

Cool. Should we get excited and follow the concerts and setlists and see if we can have a listen somewhere through a cool fan who shares their experience afterwards?

Or should we pretend the whole thing isn't happening coz we're not supposed to share in it anyway if we're not there, and just read a few subjective reports on line at Prince Org? Like obedient, conformist, conventional people with no mind of our own.

There's already a sticky about the Chicago show in the concert forum. But there's another topic I was thinking of starting a thread about but not sure where to start it, so maybe this thread will do. Today fDeluxe posted this on their Facebook page:

Great night at the Dakota. Thanks to the fellas from The NPG for sitting in! Thanks to Uncle P for the show of support!

Unfortunately fDeluxe have not played in my town yet and I haven't been able to travel to see them. I wonder if there's any chance they could open for Prince and the NPG in Chicago, now that things seem to be warming up between the two camps? I won't go to Chicago just to see Prince and the NPG, but if the additional firepower of fDeluxe was going to be there, that would be another story...

What you resist persists my dear. Just go to the show. wink

I do want to but it wouldn't be easy given my schedule for that week. I did fly to Minneapolis for the Revolution Reunion because I knew that was likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I have considered flying to an fDeluxe show but I'm hoping they might make it to Dallas eventually.

First started in December of 2010 in NYC/NJ. Has since hit the Carolinas, California(2 different cities), Canada, Australia and now Chicago.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I've already priced out a Chicago trip if he announces dates for that first week of October. A flight from NYC is equal to a long drive. I could fly over early in the day and catch a show that night, hang for an extra day and sightsee and fly out the next morning and be back early enough to make it to work on time. cool

I could pull off the same if he did Atlanta or Miami.

Or Dallas! We are a hub for both American and Southwest Airlines.
