Adorecream

Never heard the 1983 version, have heard a version on his 1982 album, 1999. Are you referring to the early 1983 12 inch mix on Ultimate Disc 2

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

How has the latest version - Welcome 2 Australia - evolved from the Montreux version?

It's pretty much the same arrangement, with the "slow down" chants at the end.

The new live version is a absolute "MasterPiece". The majority of his live versions of other songs our better live. But he outdid himself with this version. eye agree he should rerecord it if he hasn't already(I'm sure he did) & relaunch it this year with his acquirement of the 1999 master. That he will recieve this year. But eye think he is not going to do anything until after he acquires the "Purple Rain" master.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Will Smith the Fresh Prince just released a new version of "Summertime". To the idea of Prince releasing a new version of LRC, I can only say the same thing that I said about Will's new "Summertime".

IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T TRY TO FIX IT!!!!!!!

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

This version is really nice but can we say this version is better?it's weaker then the Montreux version because the girls started singing the same vocal melody like Prince for example :the Jokey that were... Nothing can touch studio version killer synth intro, amazing linn drum and Epic Prince vocals backed with voices that compliments Prince's voice Dez and Lisa. The studio cut is one of the best sex meets soul rock moments and Prince's first crossover hit.

Totally! Everytime he plays it live these days, it is just out of this world. He sure could show everyone how he just keeps gettting better all the time and treats music as living art.

Do U even know what crossover means? Doesn't matter if LRC was the first song played on MTV by a black artist. eye 'm not taking that away from Prince. eye 'm talking about the first song that cracked the Billboard hot 100.

eye Wanna be ur Lover went all the way 2 number 11 4 Princey...Yes he was largely known as a black artist at the time. But it still was a big pop hit 4 him boo boo...

Black artist are almoust always put in a r'n'b urban category no matter if they play other genres.some of those artist crossover to a much wider audiance when they get a hit song they can relate.no fucking way did I Wanna Be Your Lover got those audiance at least not in the way Little Red Corvette did.So it's safe to say that Prince's first real big crossover hit was Little Red Corvette.

I guess you didn't live in the 70s. Plenty of black artists had crossover hits in the 70s, including Prince with I wanna be your lover as well as people like Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, etc, etc.

And LRC was the first MTV song played by black artists only if you ignore the other black artists MTV played before LRC, including the Pointer Sisters, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa. In fact, MTV played songs by black artists the very first day it was on the air.

By way of MTV. MTV gave Prince a broader audience. Not 2 take away from the huge crossover success of LRC." eye Wanna be ur Lover" did it without MTV on the music alone. To me that says a lot.

eye Wanna be ur Lover still deserves the credit it deserves as being Prince 1st crossover hit...

i was born in the 80's . I thought Mtv only played videos by Jimi Hendrix, and the first 3 black arist on the mtv were Prince,Michael J. And Lionel Richie.
