I think if you heard 'Train'mixed and mastered properly i would sound amazing. I think it's one of his most under-rated songs. Or perhaps my brain just imagines too much when I'm listening to it. nah... it would sound amazing!

Can't remember it in all details, but my impression in the past was that it's not that great from a composition point of view, especially in comparison to other amazing tracks compiled for Crystal Ball for example.

A lot of Dream Factory music makes me feel like a group of friends relating stories after returning home from experiencing life.

I love SOTT, but something about SOTT being the title has always felt 'misleading' because outside of the Cross nothing else really connects with that kind of Topic,

SOTT is definately a compilations album, sitting back you can make 2-3 different cohesive albums out of it

And I totally agree with you about Power Fantastic, glad that was not released on a "non-Revoution" album

Agree with all that - never really thought about it, but you're right videos, outfits and a 'look' etc would've of course helped to tie it all togther..... I do like playing mental what if's with Prince's recording career!

Maybe IIWYGF and Dorothy Parker also offer some sort of commentary on the modern malaise, from a relationships angle - but yeah, again I agree SOTT as a title track is not matched by the content of the album, although it does do a great job of setting the tone, even if it isn't followed throughout.

Sign is probably my favourite officially released album, but it's quite obviously a pick 'n' mix complilation of tracks with little or no flow.

As for Dream Factory, I don't find myself playing it much though as there is quite a large overlap, so I replaced many of the songs on the final configuration with same-era outtakes, and it probably gets more plays now that Sign O the Times.

Is this the DF playlist you have?

^This June 3rd configuration is my favorite! Large Room, Power Fantastic, Crystal Ball, and Ballad of Dorothy Parker all on one album. If this had been released as an official album, it would easily be my favorite Prince album.

Me too...what if is pretty cool especially when you have tons of tasty boots to play while your doing it lol

I understand Dream Factory is so popular, but mainly because it was unreleased... Right or am I wrong...

I don't like Visions, Teacher Teacher, and I think Power Fantastic is overrated - Ooops I said it, just imo: a good but not excellent track.

I think I prefer SOTT like it is..... 100% strong all the way through.

I pretty much agree. Even tho I love all the songs associated with Dream Factory and my confiration gets as much play as Sign...I DO think Sign has stronger songs. I think DF gets so many props on here IS the fact its the unreleased Revolution album. But that comment about Power Fantastic...not sure about overrated, but it's an incredibly original tune that only that group of people could make. I LOVE it and think its truly beautiful. But it is one of those songs that I play for people who are not Prince fans and get nothing but confused, if not angry looks and comments.
