Yeah! that's my favourite part of that show 2 , it really is TOO FONKY!!! that version of possessed is the best imo , off the chain!!! I wore out my old vhs tape smile PR was never my favourite era but these tracks & others like erotic city , purple music , all day all night (birthday gig '84) , 17 days etc etc are some funky shit!

I think the minutes that followed those mortal words..."everybody get out in aisle and dance, this is cool" were the very ones that turned me into a Prince nut. I was in awe, as a 15 year old watching the live broadcast.

This was the first thing I saw back in 1985 of Prince that made me want to watch it over and over and it was that James Brown power coming through.

I made a connection with someone that was at this show, our eyes both lit up when we realized we were both Prince fans, I'm more hardcore. But his fav song from that show and album is Computer Blue, when I told him there was a 14+ min version he almost fell out

We talk about that music and you can feel the chills almost like we are both just witnessing Prince 1984/85

Syracuse was my first show on VHS. I remember renting it from a video store that was around the way. There was a lot of jaw dropping while watchin' it

When this show was broadcast on European TV it made a huge impression on my 15yr old self.

I remember buying the VHS of this, it was in a box with 2 video tapes. Great show, and I watched it to death.

Thankfully the show is available in remastered quality on the wonderful "Syracuse & The World" release on the Fullasoul label.

It's still a pleasure to watch even though I know it backwards. lol

I remember the day of the concert quite well, as i could not watch it, RTE in Ireland had little interest in such "demonic" stuff back then, but when I finally got to see the VHS version a few yrs later, this part blew me away, the whole Jerry lee lewis style piano and kicking his stool away, not sure what the audience of screaming - "insert your own word here" - thought of it, but even then you could see that he was not really into going with the flow, although he had reached superstardom...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

For when we heard the official recording on the LPWM flip side, it was a HUGE dissapointment.
